The Clearwater Community Sailing Center is dedicated to providing safe, enriching and affordable sailing opportunities to local residents and visitors; including youth, seniors, and the disabled, for the benefit of the entire community. Whether you’re a beginner or an avid sailor, the CCSC offers some of the most thorough and effective sailing programs in Tampa Bay area and Florida. We offer coaching for almost any skill level and age group from green team Optis to 420s, Lasers and Windsurfing

We also host many regattas a year including many on a world class scale.

RIVER ROMP 2026 • What a weekend for CCSC’s Opti Green Fleet and 420 team!

Two race teams- our youngest sailors to some of our oldest- traveled down to Ft. Myers for the 30th annual River Romp regatta. With a disappointing start to the weekend with an early abandonment of racing for the day on Saturday turned into a challenging heavy air day on Sunday for both teams!

But CCSC knows heavy air- and though it was a challenge for our newer sailors, they took the challenge to the best of their ability and CCSC took podium finishes in both fleets!

Congratulations to Amelia Tashkin, one of our youngest sailors- with a 2nd Overall in Green Fleet (swipe through for her impressive hiking)- even after a rough first start in Race 1, she had an incredible comeback to 5th place in the first race followed by a 2nd in Race 2, earning her 2nd place overall.

Congratulations to Skipper Rider Ehrlich and Crew Sage Dovbniak for 2nd place overall in 420s, including a 1st place win in Race 1 (in their first ever 420 regatta as partners!).

Congratulations to all of our sailors for sticking it out for a challenging day on the water. Onto to the next challenge!

It was all smiles at this year’s Never Say Never Foundation Pirate Camp! 🏴‍☠️

CCSC is honored to be the host for the Never Say Never Foundation’s yearly pirate camp, which gives limb-different children an opportunity to try activities they may have never imagined that they can do and gives their parents and siblings an opportunity to see them and others like them succeed, all while working and playing together.

Founded in 2010 by Nick Stilwell and Regas Woods, both amputees who bonded over their shared desire to help other amputees live life to the fullest, Never Say Never’s mission is to assist children and young adults facing challenges to overcome adversity with a positive attitude, emphasizing that with determination, anything is possible.

No boat? No problem. Get out of the house and on the water— CCSC has a fleet of catamarans that fit up to five, lasers, sunfish, 420s, paddleboards and kayaks available for rental (or included with your membership)!

LYC TEAM RACE TROPHY 2026 • CCSC’s Opti RWB team traveled to Fort Lauderdale for the 21st Annual Team Race Trophy Regatta- a favorite event for both sailors and parents for the ease and the excitement of racing as a team.

Team racing can be tough on teams (especially teams with sailors as tough on themselves as some of our sailors) but it also brings a sense of camaraderie, teamwork, and a challenge sailors don’t always get to experience with a fleet race focused class like Optis.

As always this weekend was one of ups and downs- but our team fought hard, made some good moves- and some mistakes- and are more fired up than ever to keep working as a team and getting better every team race!

Huge thanks to Coach Mateo for being the calm in the midst of lots of ups and downs- and congrats to our sailors for sailing well, taking chances and giving it their all this weekend!

It’s that time again! The Halloween Poker Run is BACK in just a couple of weeks- join us on October 25 from 1-4PM for a fun game of chance- on the water! 🎃⛵️

How it works:
Boats will navigate Clearwater Bay and stop at 5 checkpoints, picking up a playing card at each one. Once onshore, participants will show their hand of five cards and the player with the best cards will be crowned the victor.

Recognition will be given to the first finisher, but winning the poker run will be completely dependent on luck, not speed. Awards for best costume, fastest finisher and best poker hand!

Food and drinks provided post-racing. Must know how to sail— all ages and skill levels welcome.

Happy National Coaches Day!

Our coaches teach a lot more than how to trim sails or round a mark.

They teach our sailors to be confident. To think for themselves. To shake off a tough race and get back in the boat. And, most importantly, to love the sport of sailing- no matter the outcome of a regatta.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible coaches who show up for our sailors, encourage them, challenge them and help them grow- both on and off the water.

THANK YOU to our CCSC coaches- Mateo, Evan, Adam and Alex- and our guest and assistant coaches Garrett, Maverick, Kurt, Mike and Bryn. We appreciate you today and every day!

A New Sunfish for CCSC!

CCSC recently purchased a used Sunfish with help from the Clearwater Community Women’s Club of Florida. Back in May, CCSC was awarded a $1,300 grant from CCWC’s annual Daisy Grant cycle to assist with this purchase for our fleet. We continually recognize the need for additional vessels and improvements across all our fleets and are very grateful for the local financial support the Daisy Grant program provided, which enabled us to search for a Sunfish!

After a few months of searching, Mateo found a reasonably priced Sunfish across the Bay in Ruskin for us to purchase. Since acquiring it, improvements have been made to its hull so it is ready to sail in Clearwater’s intracoastal. As we approach the 2-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene damaging much of our monohull fleet, we are encouraged and excited about this new addition for members and visitors to enjoy! 

Small, local grants undoubtedly impact our operations, providing opportunities to improve our fleet, sailing programs, and facilities beyond what our annual budget allows.

And that wraps up another session of homeschool sailing! What an awesome two groups of kids excited to get on the water and sail we had at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center this fall.

Our 1.0 group went from never having sailed to being proficient in sailing on their own in groups (swipe to check out the fun they had Hobie Wave racing!), and our 2.0 group improved on their skills and learned to race- including several sailors learning how to sail the 420!

We love being a part of your homeschool week- and hope to see you again in the Spring!
