Happy 90th Birthday Jerry Krauss!

Jerry is admired and respected by many as a pillar to the Pinellas Park Community and the County. The contributions and dedication to this community as a business owner of Bowling Centers, which included the Sunshine Bowl, Seminole & Sunrise Lanes and as a Rotarian with the Pinellas Park Rotary Club for the last 58 years, are far too numerous to mention them all. Here is one that has impacted so many students over the years! The Turnaround Award Program, which was started by Jerry in 1985. It’s an Annual High School & Middle School Turnaround Awards Breakfast that has an attendance of approximately 300 of students, school administrators & family, celebrating the positive turnaround that so many students have made in their lives.

Born in 1932, Gerald “Jerry” Krauss comes from strong, German stock and was raised to believe in hard work and taking care of your family. He has these same beliefs today. He married his wife, Joan in 1954 and moved to Pinellas Park soon after. They have been happily married for 68 years and enjoy spending time with their 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Jerry and his business partner, Fred Hoyer, built the first bowling center in Pinellas Park and named it Sunshine Bowl. Jerry still enjoys bowling 2-3 times a week and going to his Rotary Club of Pinellas Park meeting every Thursday afternoon. He also likes to watch baseball and soccer (he played soccer in New York and met Joan at one of his games).
