At the Bless the Children - John Grove High School, we believe education goes far beyond the classroom. It is about shaping future leaders who care for their community and the beautiful mountain refuge they call home!

Through our school, students are learning habits and values that ripple outward to their families and will one day be passed to the next generation. In remote areas where organized trash collection simply doesn't exist, teaching our youth to steward this protected natural area is a game changer. These young people are becoming the spark for positive, lasting change in their villages!

Earlier this year, our students put these lessons directly into action for a community clean-up day. Look at these amazing photos! They collected bags and bags of trash, taking real pride in keeping their environment clean and beautiful!

We are so proud to watch these students step up, take responsibility, and lead by example. They are showing everyone what is possible when young people are empowered to care for the place they live! 💙

Our high school students have become the official piñata makers for so many special events in the Mico Quemado Mountains! Considering that most families in these mountains live with very little, and that before our school there was no education available beyond the 6th grade, what we are seeing today is especially meaningful!

Today, our students are creating piñatas for celebrations at their own school, for younger children in nearby elementary schools and for other community events. Looking at all of these piñatas together, you can see how much fun and creativity goes into the project. We love seeing our students contribute something of their own to the celebrations and traditions around them.

There is so much more going on here than making piñatas. The school gives these young people a place to spend time together and learn how to work with one another. It also gives them the chance to take part in community life in ways they wouldn't otherwise have. These are the young adults who will become the next generation of this beautiful region, and they are already beginning to make their mark!

The Bless the Children – John Grove High School exists entirely because caring people continue to support it. Without that help, these students would not have this school or the opportunities growing from it. We are so proud of the young people they are becoming and so grateful to everyone helping make it possible. 💙

The Mico Quemado Mountains came alive for Honduras Independence Day! 🇭🇳

For our students, this was much more than another day at school. It was a chance to celebrate their country and share something special with their families and community.

These are the moments we love to see. Our school has become such an important gathering place in this remote region, and watching everyone come together like this is something very special to us.

Throughout Central America and the Caribbean one of the main reasons children don’t go to school is because they lack basic school supplies. Instead of getting an education they are forced to help their families work. Whether it be farming or collecting things to recycle to earn a few cents so they can eat, their days are spent outside of school. They are being denied their basic right to education because of their poverty. Bless the Children has worked for over 30 years to help poor children have access to school. Support to help a child receive an education is support that helps a child throughout their entire life. What a beautiful way to celebrate Arbor Day in the Mico Quemado Mountains! Our students planted new plants around the school grounds and created drawings to commemorate the day. We were so busy when these wonderful photos first came in that we never had the chance to share them, and they are far too special to leave tucked away.

In Honduras, Arbor Day, or Día del Árbol, is celebrated on May 30 as a day to recognize the importance of trees and forests and to encourage their protection for future generations. That message has special meaning for our students because they are growing up in the Mico Quemado Mountains, a protected area rich with forests and natural beauty. Teaching the children to care for the environment around them is also teaching them to value and protect the beautiful place they call home.

We are so proud to see them learning these lessons in such a hands-on way while adding something living and beautiful to their school grounds at the same time. 💙

There was a very special celebration recently at Bless the Children’s school in the mountains of Honduras! 🎉

Every September 17, Honduras celebrates Teacher’s Day, a day set aside to recognize the dedication of the country’s teachers. At our John Grove High School, the lower school students made sure their teachers knew just how much they are appreciated!

The students planned a wonderful celebration with a special meal, a beautiful cake and even a handmade John Grove piñata! It was a joyful way to thank the teachers who give so much of themselves to educate and encourage these young people throughout the school year.

We are so proud of our students for honoring their teachers in such a thoughtful way, and so grateful for the dedication of our wonderful teachers. We are also deeply thankful for the many people, both in Honduras and here at home, who continue to give their time, love and support to our precious Bless the Children - John Grove High School. This school is the work of many hands and many hearts, and days like this are a beautiful reminder of what we continue to build together. ❤️

The students at First Lutheran Church & School in Clearwater are putting those words into action! They are making special cards for the children at the COPPROME Children’s Home in Honduras. Some of these students may remember the children because they made Easter cards for them earlier this year.

About 50 children and teenagers live at COPPROME. Some have lost their parents, while others have families who are unable to care for them. At COPPROME they have a safe home, three good meals every day, the chance to go to school, people who care for them and lots of other children to play with. Most importantly, they are surrounded by love.

Bless the Children has been helping the children at COPPROME for more than 20 years, providing food and other necessities and even helping to build their playground many years ago. Now the students at First Lutheran are becoming part of their story too. ❤️

When a child in Honduras holds one of these handmade cards, it will carry a simple but important message: Someone is thinking about me. Someone cares about me.

These young hands are creating something special to send kindness and the love of Jesus all the way from Florida to Honduras. We are so grateful to the students and teachers at First Lutheran for opening their hearts to the children of COPPROME!

Tap for sound! Here we see an extraordinary achievement as Bless the Children shipped out a 45-foot sea container of humanitarian aid valued at over $193,000 to benefit desperately poor rural clinics, hospitals, schools, children and families in Haiti on September 18, 2019!

As part of our over 30-year continuing mission to rescue children from the depths of poverty and despair, we worked hard preparing this 45-foot sea container filled with 20 pallets of new medical supplies, wheelchairs, walkers, school furniture and supplies, clothing, equipment and toys.

Thank you to all our loyal donors, to BayCare Health System and Pinellas County Schools, Esperos Inc., Air Force and civilian volunteers in Ft. Walton Beach, FL and to our heroic load-team volunteers - MacDill Air Force Base personnel – Jesse, Spencer, Valor, Emiley and Christopher - who helped make this help to Haiti possible.

We are so very blessed by all the loving hearts that come together to help us Bless the Children! Thank you for putting your love into action for a better world!

Days like this don’t just happen. 💙

Behind the wonderful Independence Day celebration were many hours of planning, creating, practicing and getting everything ready. Our teachers and the community put so much heart into making the celebration special for the students, and the young people themselves worked hard preparing for the big day.

Then everyone came together and brought it all to life.

We love seeing our Bless the Children - John Grove high school become a place where traditions are celebrated and memories are made. 🇭🇳
