The Pinellas County Council PTA hosted an exceptional event last week, which was attended by representatives from our PTA, including Susie Smith, Amy Fee, Tais Okano Valera, David Martinez-Cooley, Amy Hartigan, and our principal, Bill Durst. Our hygiene products program in the upper-level girls' bathrooms received an Honorable Mention, while Ronda Sturgill was recognized with an Honorable Mention for Volunteer of the Year. Additionally, David Martinez-Cooley was honored with the Outstanding Staff award, and Amy Hartigan received the Dottie Russell Award for grandparents. Congratulations to all winners!

The event took place at the esteemed Bayou Country Club, offering a picturesque view of the golf course. Susie Smith Amy Fee Tais Okano Valera Amy Hartigan.

✨ There’s no place like our school! ✨

As we wrap up the final days of Teacher Appreciation Week, our hearts are full of gratitude for the incredible staff who make magic happen every single day. 💚

This week was filled with fun celebrations, smiles, treats, and moments to remind our teachers and staff just how appreciated they truly are. We ended our journey down the yellow brick road with our Flying Monkey’s banana split bar 🍌🍨 and special gifts for our amazing team!

To our teachers and staff: thank you for your dedication, compassion, creativity, and the love you pour into our students each day. Our school wouldn’t be the wonderful place it is without you. 🌈✨💛

Our staff appreciation celebration continued with a spread worthy of Oz—fresh subs 🥪, crisp Greek salad 🥗, and sweet cookies 🍪 to keep the energy going!

Today we celebrated our incredible staff with a colorful rainbow candy bar and delicious mini doughnuts from Van Dough - Mini Doughnuts & Coffee!

This was just a little reminder to our teachers and staff at Leila G. Davis Elementary of just how sweet they are 🫶

Kicking off Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, Wizard of Oz–style—because our staff truly has the brains, heart, and courage to do it all (and maybe just needed a little coffee, too ☕️).

There’s no place like our school… especially with this crew. Let the appreciation week magic begin! 💛🌈

From May 4 – May 8, we have a special opportunity to celebrate the amazing teachers and staff at Leila G. Davis Elementary who pour so much love, time, and energy into our children every single day. 💛📚

If your family would like to participate, here are some fun daily ideas:

🌸 Monday: Bring a flower
🎨 Tuesday: Make a craft or draw a portrait
🍪 Wednesday: Bring a sweet treat, drink, or favorite snack
💌 Thursday: Share a handmade card or note
🎁 Friday: Bring something small and special

Participation is **completely optional** — your kindness, gratitude, and support mean the most. Even a simple “thank you” can brighten a teacher’s day! 😊
