What does a tablet actually do?

It carries the songs, the texts and the daily practice. It goes home with the child. It is how a twelve-week cohort becomes something a family can do together on a Tuesday evening.

Florida's third-grade reading scores rose for every group over the last four years.

The distance between them did not move.

71.2 percent of White third graders read at Level 3 or above. For Hispanic students it is 56.0 percent. For Black students, 48.1 percent.

A 23.2 point gap. That is what we are working to close, one child at a time.

Early research from the University of South Florida found SOAR participants making over a year's worth of reading progress in just 12 weeks.

Later studies from Kent State education researchers found consistent results across different program versions, grade levels and assessments.

At St. Peter Claver Catholic School, every single kindergarten through second-grade student with comparable fall and spring MAP Reading scores improved.

Twenty-three students. One hundred percent improved. An average MAP RIT gain of +15, and one child gained +51.

Structured support, daily practice, and music-based literacy tools. Children thrive when they get all three.

Why singing?

Because a child who sings one song reads the same words eight times without ever noticing they are practising.

That is the whole mechanism. Music makes practice joyful, and joyful practice builds readers.

In Hillsborough County, about 45 percent of third graders scored below grade level in reading this spring.

That is roughly 7,169 children. In Pinellas it is about 1,901.

These are not just numbers. They are children who are trying, families who are hoping, and futures that depend on early literacy.

SOAR knows how to help them. What we run out of is tablets.
