Two-thirds of Africa’s population—more than 1 billion people—are unable to afford a healthy diet, according to a 2024 United Nations report. More than 300 million people are undernourished, including millions of children.

Scripture gives us a simple response to the needs of others:

“…share with the one who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” — Luke 3:11

For those of us who have more than we need, this is an opportunity to put our faith into action. When we share what God has entrusted to us, we can help provide food and other basic necessities to those who have too little.

Meeting practical needs not only demonstrates the love of Christ—it builds relationships and opens doors for us to share the hope of the Gospel.

Many of us have excess. Let’s share. Join us in meeting this need: https://soshope.org/donate/

These Nigerian children and many others were given a wordless bracelet and the explanation of what each color represents both verbally and in written word. According to the Barna Research Group in the book "Raising Spiritual Champions: Nurturing Your Child’s Heart, Mind and Soul" (Arizona Christian University Press, 2023; with Fedd Books), raising children to be spiritual champions—that is, followers of Jesus Christ—is the only real hope for any nation, family, or individual. One of the five key insights from the book is this: A person’s worldview starts developing in the second year of life (from 15 to 18 months) and is largely in place by the age of 13. That’s the prime window of opportunity for discipleship. Other research groups affirm Barna's findings.
So, the younger a child is, the more impressionable they are and therefore, the greater the likelihood they will be regenerated through faith in Jesus. No surprise there because God declared it first...
“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
“and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)

This is the water for a village. It's very dirty and as you can see, this woman is standing in it, and it's the color of tea. They used it for everything: drinking, bathing, cleaning, cooking, and laundry. There are still villages upon villages that have water sources just like this. SOS provides water wells that provide clean water when money is available. We are to give sustenance even to our enemies; that's being Christ-like.
Proverbs 25:21 - “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink”

This isn't just a village in West Africa. It's a mission field filled with people God wants to call His children. Behind these mud walls are people with names, families, hopes, and eternal souls. There are still villages that have never heard the name of Jesus. That's why SOS Ministries exists — to preach the gospel publicly and house to house, plant churches, train up indigenous leaders, and to encourage them to remain faithful.

💛 A Mission Trip That Changed a Life... His Own.
"When I traveled to West Africa with SOS Ministries, I expected to encourage our indigenous pastors and believers in Benin, Togo, and Nigeria.
Instead, they encouraged me.
I watched faithful men who live on so little joyfully serve Christ in places where following Him is often dangerous and costly. Their commitment, humility, and unwavering faith reminded me what it truly means to trust the Lord.
It became clear... I had not gone so far to bring a blessing. I discovered that I was the one truly being blessed.
May our LORD bless and keep these faithful saints, and may HE be glorified in all that SOS continues to do in HIS Name."

Join us in a critical mission to restore the Hope Center in West Africa, which has been devastated. We are facing a $25,000 challenge to sustain ongoing ministry operations and rebuild this vital community hub. Your contributions will directly impact the lives of those who gather in faith, providing essential resources and support. Help us make a difference by contributing today.

Linda Martin (daughter of the King! – Simpsonville, SC)

After ministering to international college students with SOS, God called me to the overseas mission field on one of the initial trips to Nigeria with SOS. Within the subsequent years, this was followed by mission trips to three Latin countries with SOS. To say that these trips were life changing and transformational does not do justice to what God accomplished. God did a work IN me far greater than anything I thought that I was bringing to the field. He showed me a boldness and sense of urgency in bringing the Gospel to those who need to hear it that could only have been His Spirit working! Real mission work and obedience in following Christ in this world is hard and comes at a great cost... maybe even your livelihood or life! Mission work is best accomplished by NOT imposing our Western point of view but rather understanding the culture we are stepping into. The mission field is everywhere and everyday... The harvest is all around us! God challenged all my previous understanding about going into the mission field. When I returned and shared my experiences with my immediate family, some of them were encouraged to answer God's call. The Lord's plan is ALWAYS so much more glorious than what we can imagine! I’m so thankful and humbled for all that God has done for me and in me. Selah... the time is short.
