Many children in Africa cannot attend school because they must spend their days helping provide for their families, working simply to make sure there is enough food to survive.

While many children around the world enjoy screen time, television, video games, electronics, and opportunities to play, these children often have none of those things.

In some places, they do not even have a soccer ball to kick around with friends.

Instead, they are left to ponder, dream, and hope for something better.

By the Lord’s will and calling, SOS Ministries can place before them the greatest hope of all, the hope found in Jesus Christ.

But they need people who care enough to act.

These children are not asking for luxury, entertainment, or convenience.

They simply need a chance, a meal, an education, and hope for the future.

We confess we are weak, but you, Lord, are strong.

The journey is very long, the road is very narrow, and we’re promised that only few find the path.

So, we give thanks with a grateful heart. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

You have lifted me up and placed my feet on solid ground, and not sinking desert sand!

We are eternally grateful to you, heavenly Father, that you left the 99 and came after this terribly lost sheep (or camel!) and you found me!

You found us! As you did for us, may it please you Lord to continue to pursue bringing Muslims to the light, for your glory’s sake.

At our exact time of departure out of mid-Asia, as we were in the airport ready to board the airplane, Iran was bombing Israel on a full-scale raid attack.

May God bring about safety and peace and bring many souls to Himself.

Matthew 7:13-14 - Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

How far would you walk to attend church service?

For many of us, church is just a short drive away.

We get into our cars, turn on the air conditioning, and arrive in minutes.

But for some of our brothers and sisters in Africa, there may be no car, bus, or other transportation available.

They simply walk—sometimes a long distance, over dirt roads and through the heat—because they want to gather with other believers and worship the Lord Jesus.

Their example reminds us that fellowship with other believers is worth the effort.

Hebrews 10:23–25 calls us to hold firmly to our hope and not forsake gathering together.

Acts 2:42 shows the early believers continually devoting themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer.

Perhaps the question isn't really how far we would walk, but how much do we value gathering together with God's people?

For those who have to walk miles to church, fellowship isn't something they take for granted.

Fellowship draws us. Fellowship strengthens us.

Fellowship reminds us that we are not walking this journey alone.

Did you know it really does take a village—the body of believers in Christ—to do God’s work?

While the parents of an Afghan Muslim family we have come to know were working, members of our team helped their children get school supplies and took them to their school’s open house.

And that’s just one small part of the relationship God has allowed us to build with this family.

Different members of our team have come alongside them in different ways—helping with medical appointments, finding jobs and navigating school, as well as simply sharing life together through a farm adventure, swimming at the local pool, a five-day VBS, and more.

Through these relationships, something very important has grown: trust.

The parents now trust members of our team to take their children to Wednesday night church, where they are hearing and learning about Jesus.

This family faces many of the same things every family does—the challenges of work, raising children, providing for their needs, and building a life together. We have the privilege of walking alongside them, meeting practical needs and, through our words and actions, sharing the hope we have found in Christ.

This is what it looks like when the body of Christ works together. It really does take a village.

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

“And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” — Hebrews 13:16

“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. Isaiah 9:2."

In lands where fear and false gods still hold sway, the light of Christ breaks through the shadows.

The gospel is not merely a message — it is the power of God to transform hearts enslaved by deception and despair.

Every step toward those who walk in darkness is a step of obedience to the One who said, ‘Go into all the world.’

The light we carry is not our own; it is His — radiant, redemptive, and unstoppable.

Where the fire of superstition burns, the flame of truth will rise higher, revealing hope, freedom, and eternal life.

This boy is the only survivor in his family.

Militant Muslim men came and killed his family and burned down their mud hut just because they were Christians.

He escaped by running into the bush unnoticed.

This young man was not alone - many of the others in his village received the same fate.

SOS partnered with Voice of the Martyrs to provide food and clothing for this young man and the other villagers that lost so much that terrible day.

Two-thirds of Africa’s population—more than 1 billion people—are unable to afford a healthy diet, according to a 2024 United Nations report. More than 300 million people are undernourished, including millions of children.

Scripture gives us a simple response to the needs of others:

“…share with the one who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” — Luke 3:11

For those of us who have more than we need, this is an opportunity to put our faith into action. When we share what God has entrusted to us, we can help provide food and other basic necessities to those who have too little.

Meeting practical needs not only demonstrates the love of Christ—it builds relationships and opens doors for us to share the hope of the Gospel.

These Nigerian children and many others were given a wordless bracelet and the explanation of what each color represents both verbally and in written word. According to the Barna Research Group in the book "Raising Spiritual Champions: Nurturing Your Child’s Heart, Mind and Soul" (Arizona Christian University Press, 2023; with Fedd Books), raising children to be spiritual champions—that is, followers of Jesus Christ—is the only real hope for any nation, family, or individual. One of the five key insights from the book is this: A person’s worldview starts developing in the second year of life (from 15 to 18 months) and is largely in place by the age of 13. That’s the prime window of opportunity for discipleship. Other research groups affirm Barna's findings.
So, the younger a child is, the more impressionable they are and therefore, the greater the likelihood they will be regenerated through faith in Jesus. No surprise there because God declared it first...
“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
“and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)

This is the water for a village. It's very dirty and as you can see, this woman is standing in it, and it's the color of tea. They used it for everything: drinking, bathing, cleaning, cooking, and laundry. There are still villages upon villages that have water sources just like this. SOS provides water wells that provide clean water when money is available. We are to give sustenance even to our enemies; that's being Christ-like.
Proverbs 25:21 - “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink”

This isn't just a village in West Africa. It's a mission field filled with people God wants to call His children. Behind these mud walls are people with names, families, hopes, and eternal souls. There are still villages that have never heard the name of Jesus. That's why SOS Ministries exists — to preach the gospel publicly and house to house, plant churches, train up indigenous leaders, and to encourage them to remain faithful.
