We’ve Been Quiet, But Busy Behind the Scenes… 🌱

It’s been a while since our last update here on the USA4RSA Foundation, LLC page — but while we may have been quiet online, a lot has been happening behind the scenes.

Over the past few months, I’ve revisited our entire approach and methodology. One of the most exciting developments is the launch of SLOW… Or-On-The-Go™ Café, an upscale café in downtown Clearwater, Florida. ☕️🌍

But this café is more than just a culinary venture — it’s a natural extension of our mental health mission.

By creating a beautiful, welcoming space that promotes community and connection, healthy eating, and dancing — which has been scientifically proven to be one of the most effective forms of mental health therapy — we’re reinforcing the vital link between mental health, healthy food, fun activities, and a sense of belonging. 💚🕺🍽

We’ve already integrated a simple but powerful feature:
💵 Customers can now round up their purchase to the nearest dollar at the café — and those funds go directly to USA4RSA Foundation, LLC to support mental health efforts both here and in South Africa.

Even more exciting — we now have our own venue and own kitchen to host our fundraising events. No more renting halls or outside kitchens. This is a big plus for our mission and future impact.

📸 In the photo above, I’m handing over a donation to the Veterans Legion in South Tampa — a wonderful partner since our 2023 gala. Commander Angel and the Post Chaplain warmly expressed their appreciation. It was an evening to remember.

While South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission (NLC) board members looted millions meant for charities—buying luxury homes and enriching themselves—legitimate nonprofits, including my mental health foundation, were told that funds had been “depleted” and none were available. For years, my foundation, which provides critical care for the most vulnerable psychiatric patients, was denied financial support, while corrupt officials lived in mansions bought with stolen public money. This is not just theft—it is a deliberate betrayal, where greed has forced life-saving organizations to shut their doors, leaving the sick and desperate to suffer while criminals in power thrive.

Exciting times ahead! We’re expanding our micro farming at my charity foundation’s farm in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. A heartfelt thank you to everyone making this possible—Nico, our dedicated maintenance manager, Clive, a generous donor; our incredible staff and residents; and the Rotary Club of Paarl for their invaluable support.

With this expansion, we hope to increase our supply of fresh vegetables to Community Diners, a non-profit I founded more than 25 years ago.

Community Diners provides 1,200 meals per day, every single day of the year, ensuring that more than 300 of our full-time residents, patients, live in staff and students in our facilities and frail care centers receive nutritious meals.

Your efforts in making this vision a reality are truly appreciated!

Welcome to the new students of Community Mental Health Academy (CMHA) in Cape Town! For over 15 years, CMHA, as part of my foundation, has provided full scholarships to approximately 40 students annually from rural areas with limited access to training opportunities. Through our one- and two-year mental health caregiver training courses, some of our graduates, after successfully completing their training and earning their diplomas, are offered opportunities by private hospitals or colleges to further their studies and train as registered nurses. We wish you all the best as you embark on this journey of training and later internships at our mental health facilities. May this be the start of a rewarding and impactful career!
