Feeding a family of 4 for $10!

Every ingredient from Dollar General. This meal comes in around 430 calories per serving, 20g protein, and 8g fiber. Sodium runs a little higher since a lot of it comes from canned goods, so we skip any added salt in the recipe to help balance that out. Full breakdown in the video.

Can you make a healthy $10 family dinner from Dollar Store ingredients?

This meal packs 30+ grams of protein, a full day’s vitamin C, and a mix of fiber, iron, and healthy fats, all from shelf-stable pantry staples. Due to the salt content in the canned food, no additional salt is needed.

Ingredients:
* Cashews
* Hash browns (x3)
* Pinto beans
* Canned chicken
* Frozen broccoli
* Italian seasoning

Directions:
Pour hash browns into a bowl and cover with hot water. Not steeping in the cartons ensures minimal toxins from the carton enter the food. Let sit for 15 min until all water is absorbed. Add the Italian seasoning. Add a bit of oil to a baking sheet and spread the hash browns evenly onto the sheet. Put in the oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 min until browned. Add beans and chicken liquid included into a pot, add Italian seasoning, and let simmer for about 20 min until the liquid is slightly thickened. Add broccoli to boiling water and let sit for about 7 minutes. Drain water and place broccoli into a bowl. Add about 4 spoonfuls of liquid from chicken and bean stew to broccoli. Then add the cashews and mix. Then plate and enjoy!

Happy 4th everyone! Before you scrape those plates tomorrow… 🛑

Americans waste about 20% of everything prepared for the 4th. A few ways to keep your cookout out of the landfill:

🌭 Send guests home with leftovers
🍉 Compost the rinds and scraps
🥗 Freeze what you can’t eat this week
❤️ Know a neighbor who’d love a plate? Make one.

We rescue 20,000 lbs of fresh food every month because we believe good food belongs on plates, not in landfills. Happy 4th from 360 Eats! 🇺🇸
