Hey folks, a friendly reminder that this coming Sunday at 11AM there will be a rattlesnake avoidance class at the Clearlake animal control shelter hosted by Clearlake Animal Association.

Our friends at Free Dog Trainers will be putting on the training session.

Something else to keep your eye out for, I’m preparing a leash walking seminar at the shelter as well in the near future.

This will primarily be for the benefit of volunteers that want to walk dogs at the shelter but I’m considering inviting folks with personal dogs as well for a small fee. If there is enough interest, we might do it as two separate seminars.

‼️ Found Dog Family ‼️

Abandoned Mama (no microchip) and her three puppies from 10th St are safe.

The puppies are about 4 weeks old, not newborns as originally reported. They came in with one of the worst flea infestations we’ve seen in a while, but thankfully science came through and a dose of Capstar is already helping.

The whole family is safe, treated, and being cared for. 🐾

Scared Mama and her tiny babies are safe and in good hands with Canine Constitutional. 💛

This little family needed a soft place to land, and we are so grateful to our partners for always stepping up for the most vulnerable animals in our care. Rescue truly is a community effort and we couldn’t do this without compassionate people and organizations willing to help when it matters most.

Thank you, Steve and family, for helping this mama and her babies start their next chapter. 🐾

☀️ Hot Weather Pet Safety Reminder ☀️

Clearlake is heading into some very hot days, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s and over 100°. Please take extra precautions to keep your pets safe.

🐾 Bring pets indoors during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water at all times.
🌳 Make sure outdoor animals have deep shade and airflow.
🚗 NEVER leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes
🔥 Avoid walking dogs on hot pavement; test it with your hand first.
⏰ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening.
👀 Watch for signs of heat stress: heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse.

Flat-faced breeds, seniors, puppies, overweight pets, and animals with medical issues are especially vulnerable in the heat.

When in doubt, bring them inside. A little prevention can save a life.
