The word has gotten out - Don't miss the FREE Back-To-School event at the KPM this Sunday from 11 a.m. - 1p.m. !!!!

Plans have changed a lot. There will be no classroom activities for the kids in the one-room schoolhouse. We are giving them one more day of reprieve. Instead, there will be more crafts and games spread out over the whole grounds. And for mom and dad, Ruth Ann Zimmerman, YouTuber and Author, will give a program on Homesteading at 1 p.m.

There will be food vendors, a DJ. and face painting on the grounds. Inside the museum, kids can pick up a scavenger sheet, play memory games, build a log cabin and color one of our very own coloring sheets which highlights parts of our musem.

The 1911 Colby car was manufactured in Mason City, Iowa. It was a lightweight vehicle and had a 40 horsepower engine, it was priced around $1,600 founded by William Colby.
The car had many body styles and frames for racing before the company closed in 1914 due to intense industry competition. The car was hailed as "The Car That Iowa Built"
There is only 1 fully built Colby car in existence and its here in the Kinney Pioneer Museum!

Please come out this Saturday to hear how Service Dog Lola changed a veteran's life. A staff member from Axis Therapy Center in Clear Lake will be on hand to talk about autism, what Axis can do for the children and their families and how a Service Dog can help autistic children.
Our guests will be at the KPM from 1-3 p.m. It's a great educational opportunity! Pick up some info for yourself or a friend. It just might change a life!

Kinney Pioneer Museum was in charge of kid's activities at Clear Lake's July 31st Thursdays on Main. It was a lot of fun and the kids had a blast playing some old-fashioned games.

The game hit of the night was called Graces and dates back to the early 1800s. The game was considered a proper game for young ladies and was supposed to make them more graceful. But why should the girls have all the fun!

Mark your calendars because these games and activities were just a prelude for our Back to School event on Sunday, August 23 from 11-3!!
