This past Thursday, the Clear Lake Rotary Club had the pleasure of welcoming Adam Sears, Clear Lake's new Watershed Coordinator, as our guest speaker.
Thank you to Rotarian Steve Diers for inviting Adam to share his knowledge and expertise. Adam provided valuable information about watershed management, water quality initiatives, and the important work being done to protect and preserve our local natural resources. We appreciate his dedication to our community and his willingness to educate our members on these important topics.

At Clear Lake Rotary, we are committed to learning, serving, and strengthening our community through fellowship and meaningful conversations like these.
Interested in making a difference and connecting with community leaders? We'd love to have you join us!
πŸ“ Clear Lake Rotary meets every Thursday at noon.
🎨 Please note: Our meeting on June 25th will be held at the Clear Lake Arts Center.
If you'd like to learn more about Rotary or attend as a guest, we welcome you to reach out. Service Above Self starts with showing up!

🍽️🎟️ The Rotary Club of Clear Lake is excited to kick off ticket sales for our annual Dine in Clear Lake for a Year raffle tomorrow night at Thursdays on Main! 🎟️🍽️

This popular fundraiser gives TWO lucky winners the chance to each win $1,200 in local restaurant gift cards β€” all while supporting an incredible project for our community. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25.

This year’s fundraiser will benefit the Clear Lake Community School District Inclusive Playground Project at Clear Creek Elementary.

While Clear Creek already has a wonderful playground space, some students with significant mobility challenges are limited in what they can safely access and enjoy on the current playground. By developing this new inclusive playground area, we can help ensure that ALL Clear Creek students have the opportunity to play together during recess, creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience for every child.

The hope is to raise enough funding to help complete the project in time for the beginning of the 2027–28 school year.

The Rotary Club recently welcomed Laura Meyer and Amanda Kasten from Foster the Family for an update on the incredible work their organization is doing in our community. πŸ’™

Founded with the mission that no child should face the uncertainty of foster care alone, Foster the Family provides vital support to foster and birth families throughout the area. Laura and Amanda shared how their organization has stepped in to meet a growing need, helping children and families during some of life’s most difficult transitions.

Through programs like their large item loan libraryβ€”which provides essentials such as beds, car seats, and strollersβ€”and their β€œCozy Cases” filled with clothes, pajamas, books, and stuffed animals, Foster the Family helps children feel safe, welcomed, and cared for during their first days in a new home.

Thank you to Laura and Amanda for sharing your passion, compassion, and dedication with our Club. Your work is making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across our community. ❀️

πŸŽ¨πŸ“– Rotary Program Spotlight πŸ“–πŸŽ¨

At a recent meeting, we enjoyed a fascinating presentation from Beth Ann Schumacher, former government teacher and representative of the local historical society, who brought a piece of Clear Lake history to life.

Beth Ann shared the story of renowned artist Grant Wood and his visit to Clear Lake during the summer of 1941. During his time here, Wood worked in his β€œKare No More” studio, creating pieces such as Spring in Town and Spring in the Countryβ€”some of his final works before his passing in February 1942.

Best known for his iconic painting American Gothic, Wood’s connection to Clear Lake offers a unique and meaningful glimpse into the cultural and artistic history of our community.

Her presentation highlighted not only Wood’s legacy, but also the importance of preserving local history and sharing these stories for future generations.

Thank you to Beth Annβ€”we appreciate the work of the historical society in keeping Clear Lake’s history alive!
