The Rotary Club of Clear Lake was honored to welcome Rotary District 5970 District Governor Jeff Halverson and his wife, Mary Margaret, to our meeting at the Clear Lake Arts Center.

Club President Angela O’Hara led the meeting, and we were also pleased to welcome special guests Tim Bernhard, Assistant District Governor, and Carole Bernhard, Past District Governor.

District Governor Halverson shared an inspiring message focused on Creating Lasting Impact and encouraged our club to continue looking for ways to strengthen our service and grow our Rotary knowledge. He challenged members to spend more time learning about Rotary, review our club goals and identify several to take action on, and consider how we can encourage more members to become Paul Harris Fellows.

It was a wonderful meeting filled with fellowship, reflection, and renewed motivation to continue serving our community and making a lasting impact through Rotary.

The Rotary Club of Clear Lake recently welcomed representatives from North Iowa-Southern Minnesota Veterans Stand Down /Operation Golden Hawk to share more about their mission and the important work they are doing to support Veterans and their families across our region.

The Veteran Stand Down brings together local agencies, nonprofits, community organizations, service providers, and volunteers in one location to help Veterans access resources related to housing, food, clothing, employment, health care, mental health, substance abuse support, financial counseling, legal assistance, and more. All services are provided free of charge, creating a welcoming environment where Veterans can connect with support, build community, and receive assistance under one roof.

They also shared information about the upcoming Veteran Stand Down event, which will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the North Iowa Fairgrounds in Mason City. As part of this special tribute, The Moving Wall® Vietnam Wall Replica will be on display September 25–28, 2026. The exhibit is free to the public and offers a meaningful opportunity to honor, remember, and teach future generations about the sacrifices made for our freedom.
