Habitat ReStore - Clayton Proceeds from the ReStore support the Habitat's mission to build safe, affordable homes in Wake, Johnston, Orange and Durham counties.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are home improvement stores that sell new and used furniture, building materials, appliances and household goods at discounted prices. Proceeds from the ReStores support Habitat’s mission to build safe, affordable homes in our community. The ReStores also seek to be good stewards of the environment by diverting more than 5,000 tons of usable items from landfills annually.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Many of our frequent donors may have opportunity to interact with our Warehouse Associate, Tina Marshall. She frequently makes appearances on the sales floor, working with our management, store team and volunteers to ensure that the Clayton ReStore is well stocked, and visually appealing. She does spent the majority of her time ensuring the cleanliness, quality and safety of the items coming through our back doors and onto the sales floor are in the best condition possible. Each day has it's own unique challenges, but the biggest one that is not unique is often having a new group of volunteers to train how to do these things every single day.💪🏾 Be sure to show some love and appreciation if you see Tina for all of her hard work!

More about Tina:
She has been with the Clayton ReStore since November 2024, and currently hails from the Clayton area. She is a native of NC, and before making Clayton home she was from Raleigh. She enjoys time with family, football, fried fish and hopes to someday have her own boat (more fish fries for sure!). If she ever has the chance to get away, you'll most likely find her trekking the Amazon Rain Forest 😅

As you're walking through the store, it's easy to miss the Treasures we've set aside in the glass cases near the cash registers if you are focused on the bigger stuff nearby. 🏰👑

Here is an item that we thought was pretty neat, and we've coined it our "Treasure of the Month" for May. This is a glass ship inside of a blown glass globe with the continents etched on. The stand is wood, and the globe does freely rotate on the stand.... but be gentle with it, it is very fragile! This is why we have it in our Treasure Cabinet 🗝

If you find a hand-knotted rug at the ReStore… you may have just struck gold.
Here’s why they’re so special:

🪢 Each knot is tied by hand, which can take months (or even years).

⏳ These rugs can last decades, and even become heirloom pieces.

🔍 The tighter the knots, the more intricate and durable the design can be.

Quick tip:
Flip the rug over, and if you can clearly see individual knots, you are probably looking at a hand-knotted piece. These are some of the most valuable rugs you’ll come across while thrifting.
