The importance of shining the light. 🕯
Today, on , we for the shelter pets who never got their chance — the ones who waited, but never made it home.
We choose to remember them because their lives mattered.
And when we remember, we keep their light alive.
When we remember a life, a person, a beloved pet, or even an animal we never had the chance to know, we keep a little piece of them with us. And when we continue to shine a light, their story doesn’t simply end. It becomes part of something bigger.
Since 2014, Athletes for Animals has joined people and their pets, shelters and rescues, animal advocates, luminaries, and people just like you in bringing global awareness to the importance of pet adoption.
That’s what makes Remember Me Thursday so powerful.
All it takes is one small spark.
One person chooses to remember. One person shares a story. One person speaks up. That spark lights another, and another until a flicker becomes a flame and a flame becomes something powerful enough to create change.
One light becomes another. One voice becomes many. And remembrance becomes action.
The puppies you’re seeing here are safe because Wags & Walks Nashville said yes. Now, as their foster family, we get to care for them in our home until they find theirs. 💛
But there are puppies just like them who never made it out.
And when we allow ourselves to really sit with that, the light changes.
It flickers a little differently.
It carries the weight of the animals who didn’t get their chance, the hope we see in the ones who did, and a reminder of why this global movement has meant so much to us for more than a decade.
That is why we believe so deeply in Remember Me Thursday.
Not simply to remember - but to let remembering move us.
To keep talking. To keep sharing. To keep advocating. To keep choosing adoption.
Because when we stop talking about them, when we stop remembering, the light begins to go out.
So today, we hold it for all of them. 🕯️
For the ones who are safe. For the ones still waiting. And for the ones we remember.
