Our Ladies (along with the AMVETs and Sons) traveled to Louisville this weekend for the Annual KY Dept of AMVETs convention.

As you can see, it’s not easy getting all of us together to get a picture (still missing one of our Ladies). It’s always a fun time to get together with all of the other Posts in the State to end the year and celebrate our nations heroes!

Congratulations to all of our State Officers and we wish everyone luck in the coming year!

On Tuesday, AMVETs Post 67 members Mike Townsend, Cherie Carpenter, and Hugh Reed and Ladies Auxiliary member Michaela Stone had the pleasure of organizing and putting on a Memorial Day ceremony for the students at Clay City Elementary. Hugh gave the opening and closing prayers, Michaela talked about the history of the Flag, The Pledge of Allegiance, and The Star-Spangled Banner, Mike talked about how Memorial Day got started and why it is important, and Cherie played “Taps” on the Bugle. We had student participation with the reading of a poem by one student and a performance of “Grand Ol’ Flag” by the choir.

A special thanks to Jan Hamilton for reaching out and inviting us to put on this assembly for the children!

Due to not having a great deal of interest in the pageant, we have decided to cancel at this time. Instead, on May 16th, we have rescheduled our car wash and we will also be having a road block in town to raise money for some projects we have going on. We will post updated flyers soon!

Our first kids prom was a success! These kids danced the night away! From the limbo, to the train and the chicken dance, listening to some oldies and some new music (that us old folks had no idea what it was), fun was had by all. Thank you for coming and we hope to see you all and some new faces at our next kids event!
