A short while ago, Mr. Jim Thorpe generously donated a powered wheelchair that needed new batteries, hoping we could restore it for a Veteran in need.
We were honored to present the fully restored wheelchair to Mr. Sam Byrd at our SEC meeting at AMVETS Post 125 in Somerset. Sam is a longtime AMVETS member and a Purple Heart recipient, and we couldn't think of a more deserving recipient for this chair.
Special thanks to all the AMVETS and Sons members from across the state who stepped in to help transfer the chair. We are truly blessed to be part of the AMVETS family! 🇺🇸
