Clarksville Police Department

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Clarksville Police Department would like to highlight the importance of Clarksville Crime Stoppers and the valuable role our community plays in helping law enforcement safely locate and apprehend wanted individuals.

CPD’s Intelligence Unit recently received several tips through Clarksville Crime Stoppers indicating that Avery Bates, who was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Oak Grove, Kentucky, was staying at a residence on Faye Drive. The information was reviewed by the Intelligence Unit and shared with the U.S. Marshals Service. Through coordinated efforts, Bates was taken into custody yesterday without incident.

This case is a strong reminder of how important community tips can be. Information provided through Crime Stoppers can directly assist investigations and help law enforcement safely apprehend dangerous individuals. Every tip received is taken seriously and carefully reviewed by the Intelligence Unit and Investigators.

The Clarksville Police Department encourages anyone with information about criminal activity or wanted persons to continue using Crime Stoppers to submit anonymous tips by calling (931) 645-8477 or by going online to submit a tip at P3tips.com/591. What may seem like a small piece of information could make a significant difference in an investigation and help keep our community safe.

Avery Bates was booked into the Montgomery County Jail yesterday afternoon and is currently awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

UPDATE: Clarksville Police Searching for
Missing 3-Year-Old Child: Tyler Hall

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Clarksville Police Department, along with multiple assisting agencies, is diligently searching the area for the missing child. We currently have a significant number of first responders on scene, and we are concerned that additional people entering the area may unintentionally interfere with ongoing search efforts.

At this time, we are asking the public to allow first responders to continue their work. Specifically, several search dogs have been deployed, and excess foot traffic in the area can create challenges for their tracking operations.

We appreciate the community’s willingness to help and support the search efforts; however, we are not seeking volunteers at this moment. Anyone who does not live in the affected neighborhood is asked to avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to conduct search operations as efficiently and safely as possible.

The child has been identified as Tyler Hall, a white male with blond hair and blue eyes. Tyler is approximately 3.5 to 4 feet tall and weighs around 40 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dinosaur T-shirt, gray socks, and light green shorts. (See attached photo.)

The Clarksville Police Department will provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Clarksville Police Department
Warns Residents to Beware of Roofing and Contractor Fraud

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Clarksville Police Department is encouraging residents to be cautious when hiring contractors for home repairs and improvement projects, especially roofing work following storms or severe weather.

Unfortunately, scams involving contractors continue to happen in communities across the country. In many cases, individuals go door-to-door offering quick repairs, discounted prices, or immediate availability. Some homeowners end up paying large deposits upfront, only for the work to never begin or be left unfinished.

CPD wants residents to take a few extra steps before hiring someone to work on their home.

Before agreeing to any repairs or signing a contract, residents should:

Verify the contractor is licensed and insured
Check reviews and research the business
Ask for references and written estimates
Avoid paying the full amount upfront
Be cautious of anyone pressuring you to make a quick decision
Avoid cash payments whenever possible

Residents should also be wary of contractors who suddenly appear after storms, offering roofing inspections or repairs that were not requested.

While many contractors are legitimate and hardworking professionals, scammers often take advantage of urgent situations and homeowners who are trying to make repairs quickly.

If you believe you may have been the victim of a scam or suspicious business practices, contact the Clarksville Police Department to file a report.

Taking a little extra time to research a contractor before handing over money can help protect you, your family, and your home.
