a. All children – even children the same age – differ in development and needs. Classrooms function as communities, balancing a child’s need for independence and interdependence. Education is a process, not a product. Children benefit from being with the same teacher for more than one year.
9. Creating an environment that fosters self-regulation, self-direction and authentic self-esteem without using external rewards or punishments.
