ALL ABOARD FOR FUN!

The night was thick with shadows, the kind that swallow a man whole if he’s not watching his step. That’s when I saw it — a streamlined diesel cutting across the track like a silver streak through the dark. I followed it, because in my line of work, you learn to trust the glow.

It led me straight to the K&I Model Railroad Club, a place where the city shrinks, the lights sharpen, and every tiny street corner has a story. The kind of joint where the details are so fine, they make you lean in just to be sure your eyes aren’t playing tricks.

And here’s the kicker, kid — you’re invited.
Not the kind of invitation that comes in a fancy envelope. No, this one’s better.

At the K&I Model Railroad Club, our trains run on time, our scenery is detailed enough to make you squint, and our miniature towns have less drama than the real ones (usually).

Fourth of July at the K & I Model Railroad Club

Bring the whole crew — kids, parents, grandparents, and that one uncle who insists he “had a train set just like this in 1974.” The K & I Model Railroad Club is opening its doors for 4th of July, and we’re running trains with all the bells, whistles, and occasional dispatcher-induced panic.

And yes… we’ll have a live operating session happening! (likely to be done by 2 pm)

That means real jobs, real switching, real train movements, and real proof that we don’t just run trains around in circles like a patriotic hamster wheel. You’ll see miniature railroading the way it’s meant to be: organized, chaotic, and ridiculously fun.

Stop by before the fireworks, cool off, enjoy the trains, and see how a model railroad actually operates.

We’ll be there — trains running, jokes flying, and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Saturday, May 9 • 9 AM – 5 PM • City Place Pavilion One

Join NMRA - National Model Railroad Association Division 8 as part of the La Grange Rail Fest, a weekend‑long celebration of the city’s rich railroad heritage and the famous trains that roll right down Main Street!

Step inside City Place Pavilion One for a full day of model train displays, hands‑on activities, and family fun — all part of the Rail Fest excitement happening throughout downtown La Grange.

City Place Pavilion One is located at S 2nd Ave & W Washington St. Look for the train show signs!
