Here at Faithful Friends we focus on what the person living with dementia can do! We spend some time at the end of each day at Faithful Friends practicing our hymns for our choir that we do each month.

Every time this sweet friend starts singing he closes his eyes and Jesus is the object of his worship. It’s so pure and so palpable… you feel God so near.

Another friend who is in her 90’s and English is her second language has learned these hymns for the first time over the last few months!! She didn’t grow up in the US and these hymns weren’t a part of her childhood like all of our other friends. To watch her (living with dementia) learn Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross for the first time has been amazing. Yesterday she said “I love singing these songs.” What a blessing these friends are!

As Faithful Friends is growing and hoping to continue to grow we are looking for a few positions! If you are interested in one of these volunteer roles please email me at [email protected] or message me on here.

Administrative Assistant: this position is a volunteer role ideally for someone who is organized. This role would require about one hour per week on average of helping organize paperwork, emails, print off things, and help with other organizational needs.

Social Media: if you are skilled in social media we would love to hear from you! This volunteer role would help take pictures and videos to showcase what we are doing at Faithful Friends. This role would require about 1 hour of time each week.

Lunch Coordinator: this volunteer role could be done completely remotely! It would likely take about 1-2 hours of your time each month to reach out to people/companies to try to find people to provide lunches for Faithful Friends.

Marketing: This volunteer role would require going to different businesses including health care companies to spread the word about Faithful Friends by giving them pamphlets, business cards and discussing what our program is about. This would be done completely on your own time.

We are excited to grow Faithful Friends and we pray you consider helping this mission reach more people in our community.

Today was something special… an amazing pianist, Ryan, from Hilldale Baptist came to play the piano and Faithful Friends turned into a choir and boy were we worshiping the Lord!

One of our friends became emotional and said “this reminds me of the days I used to lead worship at church.” He later began tearing up and told a volunteer “I’m starting to forget things and it’s scary, but I will never forget the glory of God!” 🥹

What a blessing today was! Everyone of them singing so loudly for the Lord today was just what our hearts needed.
