Reed Rules the Upper Bay!

The Blue Hen Bass Anglers ventured to a very busy Upper Bay yesterday, for tournament #2 of the 2026 season. The club launched at Elk Neck State Park and the entire upper bay was open. It was a good, solid day for almost the entire club! 9 double digit weights hit the scale with 53 fish crossing the scale for 122.20 lbs!

When the dust cleared, it was Jared Reed taking his first win with the club! Jared had been showing some flashes lately and kicked the door down yesterday with a 5 fish limit going 14.87 lbs! Jared started fishing with the UD team a few years ago and the club met him while taking the UD team out on the water a couple times! Great job buddy!

Following in second was Mark Robinson with 13.15 lbs. Mark is off to a great start after winning our season opener in the last tournament. Nate Taylor took third place with 13.00 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 were Steve Krakowski with 12.39 lbs, followed by Bob Metzgar with 12.29. Big fish went to Rob Grieb with a 4.92 lb beauty! Great job fellas!

Next up on the schedule is our annual trip up to the Conowingo on June 27.

With 2 tournaments in the book, we are off on a record setting pace so far!

Robinson Starts 2026 on Top!

Tournament #1 for 2026 is in the books! Yesterday the BHBA travelled to the Nanticoke River. The tournament covered Delaware waters only with a 5 fish 12 inch limit. The water temp ranged from 69 to 72 degrees! Much warmer than we've seen this early in April. The 14 anglers brought 53 fish to the scale for 99.60 lbs with 7 limits!

When the dust cleared, it was Mark Robinson standing on top! Mark found the right fish weighing in 13.33 lbs! Mark had a beautiful 4.43 lb kicker in his bag!

Steve Krakowski was about a half pound back with 12.88 lbs in second. Following in third place, was the "Frog Man" Joe Spinelli with 11.69 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was Team Young Guns, Randy Burns with 9.85 and Bobby Metzgar with 8.72! Great job fellas!

The big fish of the day was brought to the scale by Rick Barkowski with a beautiful 4.60 largemouth!

It's derby week!!! Our first tournament of the 2026 season kicks off this Saturday on the Nanticoke!!! 6 to 2 out of Philips Landing. Live draw will be Thursday late afternoon. Let's freaking go boys!!! 🐟💪🏻

Last night the BHBA held its annual banquet at McGlynn's Pub in People's Plaza. The club awarded the 2025 winners and revealed its 2026 schedule! The club had a record turnout to bring in 2026 with some great food, drink, and fellowship! 2026 will be our 38th season as a club. So many lifetime friends have been made. This truly is the best fishing family around!!! Thank you all for making last night a special event! We'd also like to thank Champion Trophies for supplying our awards for 38 years and Personal Expressions for making us the best looking club out there with all its swag and promotional items!

Just a reminder guys that we kick off our 38th year on Saturday night!!! The annual banquet will start at 6:00 at McGlynn's Pub, in People's Plaza. Can't wait to see everyone to award last year's champions and roll out our 2026 schedule!!! Let's go! 💪🏻🐟🏆

Grieb Grabs Classic ###VII at Buggs Island!

Rob Grieb brought 11.35 lbs to the scale for a two day total of 20.92 lbs for the win! In what was the closest Classic in club history, finishing just .12 of a pound in second was Glenn Tuckmantel. Tuck brought in 10.14 lbs to finish with a two day total of 20.80! That my friends was a shootout for sure!

Jared Reed finished with a two day total of 15.85 lbs for third place. Rounding out the top 5 were Joe Spinelli (15.43) and Nate Taylor (15.06) in fourth and fifth respectively.

Great time was had by everyone at North Bend Park. That concludes the 37th year of fishing for the Blue Hen Bass Anglers!

Reed leads after day 1!

Jared Reed put together a limit for 12.15 lbs to take the lead at Classic ###VII on Buggs Island! Glenn Tuckmantel claimed second with a limit going 10.66 lbs. Rob Grieb is in third with 9.57, followed by Mark Robinson 8.90 and Nate Taylor with 6.61, to round out the top 5! Going to be a shootout tomorrow! 🐟
