Civic Tennessee Moving Tennessee forward by empowering non-partisan coalitions with the resources to strengthen democracy and civic participation.

Proud Voters in TN are gathering a diverse group of local, state, and national organizations dedicated to increasing voter registration and civic engagement through harnessing the creativity of people in a coalition, as they work together to increase diversity & volume of voter participation. Currently, Tennessee ranks 50th in voter turnout, and 40th in registration. There is a unique bipartisan opportunity to change our state's voter ranking because for the first time, Tennesseans will be able to register to vote online.

We’re breaking down the history behind your vote, what’s at stake across Tennessee, what you’ll see on your ballot, the candidates and amendments, and your rights at the polls.

With early voting underway and Election Day approaching, we’re coming together around something everyone can agree matters: every Tennessean having a voice in our democracy, no matter where you stand. Tennessee! Today is National Voter Registration Day, which means it’s a good time to make sure you’re ready for what comes next.

As we celebrate National Voter Registration Day, it’s time we do some housekeeping in Tennessee. The state has consistently ranked near the bottom when it comes to voter registration and turnout. Our best ranking in voter registration in recent history was 42nd and we’ve dropped as low as 47th. In 2022, we were last in voter turnout at 51st. 

Simply put: too many voices in our state are being left out.

These gaps aren’t the same everywhere. In some counties, black residents are 5–10% less likely to be registered than white Tennesseans. For AAPI and Hispanic communities, the gap is even bigger at 10–15%. These are barriers at work.

Here’s the good news: registering actually changes the math. People who register are about 12% more likely to vote that year compared to others in their same demographic. Every single registration matters and every single vote adds power back into our communities.

Help us celebrate National Voter Registration Day by taking two minutes today to register, check, or update at proudvoter.org. Tennessee deserves better and it starts with us showing up.

Memphis takes care of Memphis💪🏽 Thousands of our neighbors are still dealing with the impact of this week’s storms and power outages and community organizations across the city are coming together to make sure people have what they need.

TODAY at 5:30 PM, join The Equity Alliance, Willing Souls Church, Rep. Telisa Franklin and community partners for Feed the Block Memphis at Willing Souls Church, 1680 Orr St.

Free resources will be available for families impacted by the outages, including hot meals, water, food pantry supplies, fans and power packs, charging stations, limited shelter resources and more.

HAPPENING TODAY: Feed the Block Memphis

If you or someone you know has been affected by the outages, stop by for free hot meals, water, fans and power packs, charging stations, and limited shelter resources.
