38 species of birds seen today at Port Royal State Park, mostly migrating species including many individuals of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, as expected. See you November 7 at Dunbar Cave State Park.

Attention bird enthusiasts! We are egg-cited to welcome back the Warioto Audubon Society as they host another Bird Walk at Port Royal State Historic Park! This event will take place at Port Royal on October 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Below is an event description from the Audubon Society:

Ditch the screens and get outside! SATURDAY, October 3rd. Join us for a guided bird walk where we will help you identify the birds we see. No birding experience necessary. Borrow our youth or adult binoculars or bring your own. Meet at Port Royal State Historic Park 8:00 a.m. but if you are running late, no problem. We are close by and don't have to walk far to see lots of birds including this Rose-breasted Grosbeak (pictured below). Meet at the upper parking lot near the bathrooms for a short walk. We bird for about two hours, but if you need to leave sooner, you can head out at any time. No registration is required, this activity is free and open to the public.

Twenty birders ventured out this morning, and despite the heat saw 33 species of birds at Billy Dunlop Park including many species that are on their way further south for the winter. Join us October 3 at 8:00 a.m. at Port Royal State Park. We have binoculars that you can use and we will help with the identifications.

Join us at Billy Dunlop Park this Saturday (Sept. 5) at 8:00 a.m. for a very short walk to see the variety of birds found there. No birding experience required. We will help you with identifications and loan you binoculars (youth and adult available).

If you have always wanted to know the names of those feathered creatures flying close by, join us as we walk in the park and we will help you identify birds on September 5. Bring your own binoculars if you have them, but we offer youth or adult binoculars to use during the walk. This is a great way to get outside (with your kids, if you have them), get away from screens, and out to the parks to enjoy these beautiful green spaces. Meet near the Pavilion at Billy Dunlop Park at 8:00 a.m. for a walk along the stream on grassy, dirt and paved paths. We bird for about two hours, but if you need to leave sooner, your car will be nearby. Many different types of birds can be seen here including the American Redstart (Photo), and other types of warblers migrating through the area.

Tomorrow morning (Saturday) will be a perfect morning for birding. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at 177 Chapmansboro Road near Ashland City. Beautiful flat rails to trail. Bring binoculars or use ours.

Get outside and away from screens and other stressors. A bird walk on a beautiful greenway is a perfect place to be. The walk is for experienced or non-experienced birders. We provide binoculars for both youth and adult and assist in bird identification. The walks last approximately 2 hours. May 2 at 8:00 a.m. we meet at the parking lot at the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail, 177 Chapmansboro Road, Ashland City, TN. This walk is on level paved trail that parallels the Cumberland River. A wide variety of species are found here. We can expect many different species which are migrating through, many returning summer residents as well as other birds that are attracted to the river area.
