Updated for this year. "The Night before the Trivia Contest"
Twas the night before CGST’s 9th Trivia Contest, when all through the Jefferson-Volunteer Fire-Company Banquet Hall
Not a question was read, not even a need for mental recall;
The team tables were prepared with covers and signs,
In hopes that Trivia Teams soon would arrive;
The next day, the teams’ members did, and were nestled all snug in their seats,
While visions of correct answers would be welcome treats;
And our MC with his microphone, and scorekeeper with computer at the ready,
Had just settled in for all ten rounds slow and steady,
When out on the contest room there arose a question conundrum,
Teams sat up in their seats to work through the mind numb.
On the cards they were to respond with answers in a flash,
Captains held them up, and the runners came in a dash.
The projector was shining the scores on the screen
To give the list of who was in the lead for all to be seen,
When, what to curious ears should sound,
But the quiz master, with a brand new themed trivia round,
"Now, Brass Menagerie! Now, Vandelay Industries!, and Now, The Roarities!
On, Brain Trust! On, Trebek's Rejects! On, We're Just guessing!
On, Flenniken Flamingos! On, Wednesday Walkers! and, Kings Law office!
The questions came as completion! Some came with a choice, but not them all!
Now answer away! Answer away! Answer them all!
Baskets were raffled and 50/50 paid,
Scholarships could now be offered to help with financial aid.
So up to the bake sale the team members flew,
With plates full of goodies and pizza, too.
In the end, the quizmaster read the last question,
And the judges had made their last decision.
The scores were all tallied,
teams had tried, and some had even rallied.
The winners were mentioned, to their charities a check,
And home the participants went with increased intellect!
But I heard the quizmaster exclaim, ere there was a small tear,
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME, AND TO ALL, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
