🦖💙 MEET BLUE: THE VELOCIRA-BOXER QUEEN 💙🦖

Scientists were trying to create the perfect puppy.

Instead, they accidentally created Blue.

Part Boxer, part Velociraptor, and part tiny chaos gremlin, Blue is a prehistoric princess with the energy of a rocket launch and the decision-making skills of a squirrel that just drank three espressos.

🐾❤️ Pascal Update: A Little Miracle Comes Home ❤️🐾

A few days ago, we were facing one of the scariest moments we've experienced in rescue.

Pascal became critically ill and was rushed to the emergency veterinarian after suffering severe internal bleeding. We feared the worst as he was hospitalized, received blood transfusions, medications, fluids, and around-the-clock care while veterinarians worked tirelessly to determine what was causing his condition.

After extensive testing, Pascal was diagnosed with Babesia canis, a tick-borne disease that is uncommon in Tennessee but more frequently seen in Texas, where Pascal came from. The disease attacks red blood cells and can quickly become life-threatening if left untreated. It was a diagnosis none of us expected, but we finally had answers and a treatment plan.

Today, we are beyond grateful to share that Pascal is HOME. ❤️

He still has medications to take and follow-up care ahead of him, but he is improving every day. His eyes are brighter, his appetite is returning, and his sweet spirit is shining through once again.

And then there's Pedro. ❤️

Since Pascal came home, his brother Pedro has been right by his side. Whether he's curled up next to him, keeping watch, or simply offering quiet companionship, Pedro has been taking his job as caretaker very seriously. Watching these two together has been a beautiful reminder that dogs don't just share homes, they share their hearts.

We want to thank every single person who prayed, donated, shared his story, and cheered him on. Because of your support, Pascal received the lifesaving care he desperately needed.

While we are celebrating this victory, we still have a remaining balance of $695 on Pascal's medical bill. As a rescue, unexpected emergencies like this are never budgeted for, but we believe every dog deserves a chance to fight for their future.

🚨 EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED FOR PASCAL 🚨

Our sweet little Pascal, a Chi-Weenie we recently transported from Texas, is currently fighting for his life.

Pascal was rushed to the emergency veterinarian after developing severe internal bleeding. Veterinarians suspect he may have been exposed to a poison, and he is now hospitalized receiving blood transfusions, Vitamin K injections, IV fluids, intensive monitoring, and around-the-clock medical care as his team fights to save him.

His emergency veterinary bill is already over $1,200, and we desperately need help to continue his treatment.

Eight years ago today, we lost Kaylee.
Somehow the world has continued turning for eight whole years, yet there are moments where time still feels suspended somewhere back in the days when her laughter filled the room.

Grief is a strange thing. It teaches you how to survive while simultaneously keeping certain memories untouched, preserved like tiny fragments of light you carry everywhere you go. Birthdays, anniversaries, ordinary little moments, they all have a way of pulling the past gently into the present.

Kaylee’s Island was created from that love. From heartbreak that refused to become bitterness. From the belief that even after devastating loss, kindness could still grow. Every dog rescued, every frightened soul shown patience, every happy tail wag, every second chance given, carries her spirit forward in ways words could never fully capture.

And as difficult as today already is, another ache sits beside it. It is almost four years since her dad joined her in Heaven. Losing them both changed the shape of our world forever. Some losses never become “normal.” You simply learn how to carry them while continuing to move forward one step at a time.

There are days when the memories bring tears, and there are days when they bring warmth and gratitude for having loved so deeply at all. Today feels like both. Heavy and beautiful at the same time.

Sometimes I imagine them together somewhere peaceful, free from pain, watching over every dog that finds safety here. Maybe that is why Kaylee’s Island has always felt like more than a rescue. It feels like love continuing its journey even after loss tried to silence it.

The years may continue passing, but love does not disappear with time. It lingers in the stories we tell, the lives we touch, and the pieces of people we carry within ourselves forever.

Some people leave footprints behind.
Kaylee and her dad left an entire path of compassion, and we will keep walking it for them. 🕯️🐾
