🌟 **We Love Lit! Celebrates Affordable Summer Fun!** 🌟

Summer is here, and it’s the perfect time to transform everyday moments into literacy experiences! As SuSuze Ormaneminds us, delivering summer fun for kids doesn’t have to break the bank. Here are some budget-friendly ideas that not only spark joy but also enrich literacy skills:

⛺️ **Camp in the Backyard**
Set up a tent, grab some books, and enjoy storytime under the stars! Encourage kids to tell their own stories around the campfire.

🥇 **Organize a Neighborhood Olympics**
Create different events where kids can write down rules, keep score, and even write a fun report on the day’s activities!

🧁 **Bake Together**
Involve kids in reading recipes and measuring ingredients. It’s a delicious way to practice math and reading skills!

👑 **Go on a Treasure Hunt**
Design a treasure map with clues that require reading and problem-solving. Not only is it adventurous, but it also sharpens critical thinking!

And here’s a fun twist: if your kids are 8 or older, let them take charge of planning a day’s activities each week! It’s a fantastic way to foster creativity, responsibility, and communication skills.

Remember, **any moment can be a literacy moment**! Let’s make this summer one of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. 🌈✨

What activities are you excited to try? Share your ideas with us!

InsideOut Literary Arts

🌟 **Empowering Youth Voices Through Literacy** 📚✨

Dr. Susan Neuman’s research highlights the critical role of access to literacy in shaping educational outcomes, especially for children from diverse backgrounds. By fostering a rich reading environment, we can help bridge the gaps in literacy achievement and empower our youth.

**InsideOut Literary Arts** is showcasing the powerful words of our youth on billboards throughout the community. This initiative not only celebrates their creativity but also makes literacy a visible part of our lives.

Every billboard is a reminder that every moment can be a literacy moment. Let’s champion reading and create a space where every child’s voice is heard and valued! 🌍💚

🌟 **We Love Lit! Winter Tutoring Wrap-Up** 🌟

As we close out our winter tutoring semester, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to our partners at **Oakland University**! 🎓

This season, we proudly hosted **21 K-3 students** in our tutoring program, fostering a love for learning and literacy. We particularly want to recognize our dedicated students who attended **90%-100%** of their sessions—

A special shoutout to the **Charles & Demetra Leonard Foundation**! 🙌 Thanks to their generosity, they awarded **9 scholarships of $250** each through the MESP college savings plan. Research shows that families who invest in college savings plans significantly increase the likelihood of their children attending college. Your support is a powerful investment in our youth's future! 💖

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. We are grateful for your commitment to nurturing our next generation. Let’s continue to inspire and empower our children together!

🌳✨ **We Love Lit! & Oakland County Parks: A Sweet Adventure!** 🍁📚

We recently partnered with Oakland County Parks and Recreation for an engaging learning experience about maple syrup tapping! Families explored the history, learned to identify maple trees, and discovered the difference between real and artificial syrup.

During an interactive read-aloud of *A Kids Guide to Maple Syrup Tapping*, Oakland University MATEE teachers guided parents and caregivers, introducing the **Talking Drawing strategy**. Students created initial drawings, discussed their learnings, and then illustrated their newfound knowledge in a second drawing, showcasing their growth.

This program is a testament to the power of experiential learning and collaborative partnerships in nurturing a love for reading and learning in our children.
