Wow! Thank you to The Brockport Blog for this amazing tribute in honor of our 75th Anniversary! It is a privilege to both SERVE our community and have the tremendous SUPPORT of our community to provide for so many in our community and beyond!
Congratulations to the Brockport Lions Club on reaching the milestone of 75 years of service to the community!
The group was founded in 1951 by 23 service-minded men at the Clark Haven Hotel in Brockport. Today, the club is led by President Kevin Smith and includes nearly 70 men and women committed to serving Brockport and beyond.
The photos featured here represent just a small sampling of images I’ve captured of the Brockport Lions Club in action over the past 15 years for the Brockport Blog. I have many more documenting the group’s ongoing impact and dedication to our community.
The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Brockport Area Vets Club, with dinner meetings beginning at 6:30 p.m.
If you’re interested in joining the Brockport Lions Club, please get in touch with Membership Chair Greg Lund at [email protected].
Here is a sampler—by no means a comprehensive list—of some recent service Brockport Lions Club service projects:
Holiday Food Bags: Supporting local families facing food insecurity. Each Easter and Christmas, 65–75 families receive bags weighing nearly 65 pounds each—totaling more than 3,000 pounds of food, assembled and delivered by members.
Backpack Program Support: Helping fund weekend and school-break meals for children in need within the Brockport Central School District.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace Partnership: Working with the Rochester chapter of the national organization whose motto is “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.” The club has sponsored two builds, helping provide a total of 75 beds. The most recent build was in partnership with the Chili Lions Club.
“Stuff the Trailer”: An annual February food drive supporting the Brockport Food Shelf. In 2026, nearly 1,100 pounds of nonperishable food were collected.
Braille Menus: Creating and maintaining accessible menus for local restaurants.
Roundabout Beautification: Maintaining and enhancing the East Avenue/West Avenue roundabout.
Brockport Arts Festival Wine Garden: Operating the Wine Garden to benefit BISCO, a coalition of local service clubs supporting youth across western Monroe County.
Camp Abilities Support: Supporting this weeklong educational sports camp for children with visual impairments, founded by Brockport Lion Dr. Lauren Lieberman. The program has grown to include more than 45 camps across the U.S. and 14 countries.
Morgan Manning House Fundraising: Raising funds to help rebuild following the devastating January 2025 fire.
Thank you Brockport Lions Club! Brockport is a better place because of your organization and members! 💙Caurie
