Delta Dreamers Summer Art Camp: From Roots to Fruits
What an incredible week! Our Delta Dreamers campers spent four days exploring this year's theme — From Roots to Fruits — using art to discover the connections between identity, growth, community, and creativity.
Through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and collaborative projects, students journeyed through four chapters of growth:
Roots — identity and foundation
Trunk & Branches — growth and support
Leaves & Sunlight — learning and inspiration
Flowers & Fruit — creativity and accomplishment

Along the way, they built new artistic skills, made new friends, grew in confidence, and created work they were genuinely proud to share with their families.
A huge thank you to our camp coordinators, Reneshia Mathis and Amanda Citchens, whose energy, patience, and heart made this week something truly special.
Seeing the pride on each camper's face as they shared their work reminded us exactly why arts education matters. Just like the plants they studied — we can't wait to watch them continue to grow. The future is bright!

Griot Arts Summer Dance Intensive

This week, a select group of dancers from the Griot Arts Dance Department participated in an intensive experience focused on growth, discipline, creativity, and artistic excellence.

The week began with team-building activities designed to strengthen connection, build confidence, and cultivate a sense of belonging. Dancers then immersed themselves in focused training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Horton, refining foundational techniques, strengthening existing skills, and expanding their artistic vocabulary.

Throughout the intensive, dancers embraced challenges, received corrections with determination, and committed themselves to the process of growth. Each class provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the art form while preparing their bodies and minds for the next stage of their dance training.

We are grateful to our guest instructors, whose expertise, encouragement, and passion helped make this experience possible:

• Nia Lyons
• Victoria Jaenson
• Jamie Jones

The week was marked by hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to artistic excellence. It was inspiring to witness these young artists take risks, support one another, and rise to every challenge placed before them.

At Griot Arts, we believe meaningful training experiences help cultivate not only stronger dancers, but disciplined, confident, and creative young people. This intensive was a powerful reminder of what is possible when talent, opportunity, and dedication come together.

SHOUTOUT to everyone who made Magnum Opus unforgettable. 📣

Over 350 people showed up last Saturday to witness what our dance department has been building all year — and we gave them a Broadway-worthy stage to match every bit of the talent on it.

Let's talk about the village that made it happen:

To the staff and teachers who poured their hearts out ALL YEAR and put in extra hours — THANK YOU. This show lives in your dedication.
To the parents who gave their time and late nights — THANK YOU.
To the Clarksdale High School Beta Club for their countless hours behind the scenes — THANK YOU.
To our board members who showed up AND brought others to witness what we're building — THANK YOU.
To every community member who filled that room with love and energy — THANK YOU. 💛

And to the youth participants, we want you to understand something. This is YOUR community. And we are ready to do what it takes to make sure you experience a vortex of opportunity. Every gift you carry has a place here. Every dream you hold deserves to be amplified. And we are striving to ensure you don't have to do it alone.

Clarksdale is flourishing. And the young people here are leading the way. 🎭✨

Thank you Staci Lewis Photography for the amazing photography

Award season is here, and Sinners is dominating.

A story inspired by the stories and places of the Clarksdale community—earning 16 major award nominations and a host of other recognitions.

And that recognition is already moving beyond the screen.

In recognition of the cultural impact of Sinners, FEAR OF GOD is donating 100% of proceeds from its limited-edition Sinners collection to Clarksdale Culture Capital, ensuring reinvestment flows back to the people, places, and cultural legacy that inspired the film.

Griot community—this is what we want to amplify.

CREATIVITY that tells our own stories.
COMMUNITY that is rooted, connected, and collaborative.
COMPASSION that looks like reinvestment, not extraction.
Reinvestment like this helps strengthen Clarksdale as a creative ecosystem—where people are amplified for their ideas, their craft, and who they already are.

Don't believe the lies.
Clarksdale is dope.
Full stop.
