StoryWorks and Crossroads Cultural Arts Center are teaming up with Colombian visiting artist Natalia Carrero for a powerful and immersive workshop experience.

Natalia will lead Roots In Motion, a multi-day workshop that explores body expression, cultural memory, and collective creation through Colombian dance and physical theater.

The Cooke Estate partners with the Higher Purpose Hub to launch the Change initiative. Clarksdale welcomes Nicole Cooke-Johnson the granddaughter of Sam Cooke to his birthplace.

This historic moment will include several events highlighting the new book from the estate “A Change Is Gonna Come” illustrated by Nikkolas Smith. The book centers Sam Cooke’s legendary song and inspires the next generation to create change.

The collaboration will host a Community Conversation on November 20th open to the public entitled the “Power of Music” moderated by Dr. Tim Lampkin at the Carnegie Public Library at 5:00pm with event partner the Mississippi Book Festival. Complimentary admission and book for attendees.
