Volunteer Spotlight: Glenn Boyd
Glenn Boyd is a lifelong resident of Lewis County and has called Weston home since marrying his high school sweetheart, Terry Lynn, in 1977. Family is at the center of Glenn’s life. He and Terry are proud parents to their daughters Anessa and Christy, and their son Joe. They’re also proud grandparents to four granddaughters—Ericah, Mary Beth, Kaitlyn, and Elisa—and one grandson, Ethan.
Glenn has always had a passion for fishing. As a teenager and young adult, he first tried his hand at fly fishing and fly tying. In 1981, Glenn began working for Dowell Oil Field Services, and while he continued fishing when time allowed, fly fishing eventually took a back seat.
In 2016, Glenn rediscovered fly fishing and quickly rekindled his love for the sport. After retiring from the oil and gas industry in 2020, he was able to devote even more time to the water.
Glenn’s journey with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) began with a chance meeting with Lou Ansline, which led to a conversation with PHWFF Clarksburg Program Lead Brandon Rudisill and ultimately an invitation to join the volunteer team. Since then, Glenn has found volunteering with PHWFF to be deeply rewarding. He is proud to help support our nation’s veterans by sharing the camaraderie, relaxation, and sense of purpose that fly fishing can bring. Through patience, encouragement, and time on the water, Glenn enjoys helping veterans experience the healing power of the outdoors and the fellowship that makes the program so meaningful. 🇺🇸🎣
