Our closing weekend is approaching! You only have two more opportunities to catch “Much Ado About Nothing”!

This Friday, 16th, we will be at Vannatta Wine, and on Saturday, 17th, we will be at Freeport Wine Country Inn!!

For Vannatta, please free to bring a picnic, no outside alcohol though!

For Freeport, no picnic necessary! They will be offering a menu to order from! No outside food or alcohol allowed.

Rion Romero - Claudio/Watchman

This is Rion Romero’s first show with Shakespeare on the Vine, and he could not be more excited! He has been acting in the Sacramento area for 13 years, and While he’s forgotten the plethora of his credits, here’s a highlight reel: A Christmas Carol, The Miracle Worker, A Winters Tale (Sacramento Theatre Company); Romeo and Juliet, Pippin, Peace in Our Time, The Crucible, Once on this Island (WHS); Alexander who’s not not not not not not going to move!, Matilda, Jospeh and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (RTAA); Vinegar Tom, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar (Chapman University). Get to know the Crew!

Penny Ehrgood - Stage Manager

Penny is a junior at Casa Roble High School and has been doing drama since elementary school but started really enoying doing theater in 8th grade. She has been in many plays including Peter Pan, The Alibis, Fractured Fairy Tales, Check Please, Murders in the Heir, The Children's Hour, and more. Penny is the president of Casa's Drama club and earned that title her freshman year. Penny has participated in multiple competitions at American River College and came back with at least one award everytime. This past year she won an award for the production of a scene from Almost Main, and won another award for best personal acting preformance in a scene. Both years she has been at Casa she has recived an Undergraduate award for drama and this past year she recived one for band too. This is Penny's first time being a crew member and not an actor for a play and it's been a fun and exciting experience for her.

Ashton Ehrgood - Conrad/Messenger

Ashton is 22 years old, and was born in Spokane, Washington. He moved to the Sacramento area in 2015 and has been acting ever since. Ashton's first play was an elementary school production of Treasure Island back in Spokane, but he didn't start acting on a regular basis until high school. He has since been involved in many shows at Casa Roble High School and at American River College. A few of these include The Petrified Forest, Almost, Maine, a self written and directed play called The Hustle, The Frog Princess, Midsummer v20.20, The Comedy of Errors, Something Rotten, and Spring Awakening. This is Ashton's first production with Shakespeare On The Vine and he is very excited to perform for you all!

Get to know the Cast!

Kevin Toole - Antonio

This is Kevin's third appearance with Shakespeare on the Vine, having previously played Vincentio and the Tailor in Taming of the Shrew. Kevin has been actively involved in Sacramento Area theater for the last four years following a 15-year break. In these recent years, he has appeared in productions with Sutter Street Theatre, Main Street Theatre Works, Theatre One, The Big Idea Theatre, The Art Theater Of Davis, and Theatre in the Heights. He most recently appeared in Harold Pinter's The "Collection" and Sorin in “The Seagull” at the Art Theater of Davis and "According to Goldman" at Theatre in the Heights. His favorite roles of late include Richard in “Hayfever” (The Art Theater of Davis), Gremio in a Sopranos' style “The Taming of the Shrew” (Main Street Theater Works), Dr. Miller/Gauchet in “Inventing Van Gogh” (Big Idea Theatre), Schultz in “Circle Mirror Transformation (Theatre One), and as a member of the singing cast in “Tom Foolery” a musical r***e of the work of Tom Lehrer (Sutter Street Theatre).

Kevin is a lawyer by trade and has worked as an Administrative Law Judge for many years with the State of California. He has received Elly nominations for both acting and playwriting. Other theater companies with which he has worked include: Sacramento City Theatre; Sacramento Experimental Theatre; Chatauqua Theatre; Capitol Community Theatre; Minikin Theatre of Roseville; Elk Grove Theatre Company; and Theater El Dorado.

Cynthia Davis - Beatrice/Dogberry/Director

Cynthia has had the privilege to be involved with Shakespeare on the Vine for 10 years now. She graduated with her BA in Drama, Magna Cum Laude, from UC Irvine where she studied Shakespeare under Robert Cohen. In her time as an actress, she has performed for Shakespeare on the Vine, Sutter Street Theatre, Fair Oaks Theatre Festival, Black Rabbit Productions, Theatre El Dorado, Lambda Players, the Little Bus Players, Chautauqua Playhouse, Crossroads Productions, DST Productions, and Garbeau’s Dinner Theatre. Some of her favorite roles include: Hannah from "Puffs!," Katherine from "The Taming of the Shrew," Titania in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Morgana Le Faye from John Lee’s "Merlin," Domina in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," Martha from "A Piece of My Heart," Norah in "They Came from Mars," and Diane from "Opening Lines." She has been honored with 7 Sacramento Elly nominations for acting. As well as acting, she has worked as a director, acting teacher, and producer over her many years of being involved in the theatre.

She has had a wonderful time directing this production and is honored to be working with these amazing actors and crew. But a special thanks goes out to Mark Cornfield for all of his tireless work on these productions and his loving support.

Lori Ann DeLappe-Grondin - Lady Jane

Lori Ann DeLappe-Grondin, Faculty/Artistic Director/Director
A member of the faculty at Sacramento City College since 2005, Lori Ann has been working in the local theatre community since 1994. She founded an all-female Shakespeare ensemble, Wildflower Women's Ensemble with co-founders Julianna Schultz and Josh Anderson. Wildflower Women's Ensemble provides free Shakespeare in the park to the community and endless opportunities for women, female-presenting, and non-binary artists to explore all roles, regardless of gender identity. As an artistic team member of both the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival (SSF) and City Theatre at Sacramento City College, she takes on both artistic and administrative positions, including directing, management and education. She is also the program director of the High School Intern Program for SSF which she created in 2004. Her abiding love of Shakespeare was further developed after she had the opportunity to train for three weeks at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Her favorite roles are this one, Judith Bliss in Hay Fever, Mary Shelley in Doctor Prometheus, Goneril in Kind Lear and Camilo in The Winter's Tale. In her free time she is a playwright and debuted her first full length adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion in 2023 at City Theatre.

Get to know the Cast!

Mary Dahlberg - Leonata/Sexton

Mary was most recently on stage as Ensemble in Woodland Opera House’s production "Singin’ in the Rain" and Private Penguin in “Madagascar”. She is even more thrilled to be back on stage with such a talented cast and crew! Her favorite shows are the Shakespeare on the Vine and, previously, Shakespeare in the Park productions where she played such roles as Titania, Lysander, and Snug the Joiner in "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," the Friar in "Much Ado About Nothing," Mistress Page in "Merry Wives of Windsor," and multiple characters in "Measure for Measure," "King Lear," and "As You Like It." You may also spy her treading the boards at Woodland Opera House, where a few favorite roles include: Ms. Deas in "To Kill a Mockingbird"; Starveling in "A Midsummer Night’s Dream"; Betty Blast in "Footloose"; and make-up artist in "Prime Time for the Holidays." You may not spy her working backstage on several productions each season.

Mary would like to thank Jon for his support and chauffeur services, Cindy for offering her this opportunity, and the rest of the cast and crew for their hard work in making this such a fabulous production.
