Shelter Update - The City Shelter building is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-4:30pm. Please call us at 712-542-3605 or email us at [email protected] if you are interested in adopting an animal. If you can open your home and your heart to a shelter animal, please contact the Humane Society here: [email protected] or call us at 712-542-3605. We have been so well

supported throughout the years by the Clarinda community, and we hope going forward to be able to be here for any animal in need. Please continue to check here, and our site (www.SWIHS.org) for updates.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

Due to an influx in cases, we feel that we need to share some flea facts. 9/10 itching animals we have seen this week have had fleas. 👀

🐾 Fleas can in fact affect indoor only pets!
🐾 Treatment must be administered for a minimum of 3 months to kill the lifecycle. Even then, they can easily come back. We recommend year round prevention.
🐾 Just because you might not see a flea, they are excellent at hiding. If you would like to test your pet at home, we can help you with that. All you need is a spray bottle, paper towel, and a fine brush.
🐾 There are so many preventatives to choose. Please call us so we can help you choose an appropriate option. We have chewable and topicals. We recommend avoiding collars and over the counter preventative. Even vet clinics have affordable products.

Today is National Rainbow Bridge Day. 🌈🐾
Over the years, we have loved and lost several, very special residents. No matter how long they were with us, we remember their presence. Please feel free to share any of your special furbabies that have crossed the rainbow bridge as well. 💛
