Richmond Education Gardens and Apiary is being developed by two neighboring communities: Clarendon Hills and Westmont, Illinois.

The Richmond Education Gardens & Apiary was designed by the Villages of Clarendon Hills and Westmont to include a hobbyist apiary surrounded by native vegetable, wildflower, butterfly, wall and rain gardens. The Gardens promote the following values: access to resources, community ownership of process and product, localization, empowerment and collaboration, healthy eating, and organic and environmentally sound gardening and landscaping practices.

On Thursday, August 20th, several members (Angela Crews, Jennifer VandeLune, and John and Barb Maxwell) of the Churchill Garden Club in Clarendon Hills, visited the Richmond Education Gardens & Apiary for a tour from the staff at the Village of Westmont (Grace Reilly, Natural Areas Specialist; David DeCicco, Forestry Foreman; and Jesse Raap, Horticulturist).

The Village of Westmont staff has a wealth of knowledge, and the Churchill Garden Club members learned a lot about many of the native plants growing in the gardens.
