Fine Arts Foundation The Scripps Fine Arts Foundation offers monthly public programs and art lectures and provides funds for art scholarships.

The purpose of the Scripps Fine Arts Foundation is to stimulate public interest in art, to develop greater opportunities for the study of art at Scripps College and to benefit the local art community. The Scripps Fine Arts Foundation raises funds from annual membership dues, donations and events to support its monthly programs; contribute to Scripps College art scholarship and internship funds; pr

Marciano Martinez charmed us with is wonderful memories about growing up surrounded by the arts in Claremont and his lifetime of painting and teaching. Now you can his work on display at the Ginger Elliott Gallery opening tonight. And you can meet Marciano at the artist reception on Sunday, June 7, 2-5 pm.

We are excited to announce our upcoming exhibit featuring artist Marciano Martinez! 🎨

Marciano Martinez grew up in Claremont as part of a family deeply rooted in the arts and cultural life of the region. His brother, Richard Martinez, is also a noted and respected artist, while other family members performed at the historic Padua Hills Theatre as part of the celebrated Mexican Players, who helped preserve and share Mexican folklore, music, and traditions with generations of Southern California audiences. Continuing this creative legacy, Martinez's niece is acclaimed actress Jessica Alba, whose successful career has brought the family's artistic heritage to an international audience. Jessica is currently working on a film about her family's legacy and that of the Padua Hills Theatre.

As part of the Metro D Line Subway Extension, a new station has opened right next to LACMA, making the museum more accessible than ever to communities across Los Angeles County. The plan is to include the Buena Park, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Westminster, and Tustin sites, as well as starting and ending with the Hilbert Museum’s mosaic and sculpture from Santa Monica.

All my previous bus tours have sold out, so I wanted to let you know first. I will also announce it to the Millard Sheets lists soon. (I am also conducting a lecture July 30 at the Hilbert Museum, and a tour for the LA Conservancy on Sunday August 2, as in previous years. They will advertise that in the months ahead.)

"Harbors and Horizons: Maritime Prints by Phil D**e" is now on view at the Hilbert Museum in Orange through October 4. A longtime Claremont artist, D**e taught at art at Scripps College in the 19505-60s.
