"The leaking water dripped liquid onto the building’s sprinkler system, where it corroded a pipe joint until “no metal remained⁠” in some parts of the joint; in other parts, the joint was just “paper-thin metal”, the investigators found.

Finally, the pipe joint gave out, and on December 24, 2018, around 4:12 am, the sprinkler system came crashing down, severing a pipe filled with lubricating oil, which would catch fire moments later⁠."

Documents from a lawsuit regarding the 2018 Christmas Eve Fire at the Clairton Coke Works describe conditions at the plant as “decrepit” and “alarming.”

The Virtual Gala will be a fundraising event to provide medical supplies at a clinic and launch the first Breathmobile to treat children suffering from asthma in the underserved Mon Valley region of Allegheny County.

Celebrity guest speaker Cameron Heyward of the Pittsburgh Steelers will share the story of his personal childhood struggles with asthma. The ACMSF also will honor physician and community leaders; physicians with 50-plus years of service to the medical profession; and those voted as Top Physicians under 40 in Allegheny County.
