💡 APC Member Highlight 💡

APC members play an important role in supporting students across the CSU system.

This week we are featuring Jennifer McKee from Chico.

With 20 years at CSU, she serves as a Developmental Math Coordinator, helping support students as they navigate important academic milestones.

“I joined APC to ensure staff have a strong collective voice, promote fairness and equity, support colleagues, and help strengthen our campus community through shared advocacy.”

“I’ve had the privilege of serving Chico State students for over 20 years, beginning as a peer advisor for Summer Orientation. Since then, I’ve worked in Admissions, advising, retention, and now support first-year students as they navigate enrolling in mathematics courses. It has been incredibly meaningful to grow alongside our campus community and continue supporting students at every stage of their journey.”

Her dedication reflects the lasting impact APC members make in supporting student success. 💚

California’s cost of living continues to rise, but too many Unit 4 employees are still being asked to do critical work without compensation that reflects reality.

Supporting students should not mean struggling to make ends meet.

Fair pay is not too much to ask. It is about dignity, respect, and recognizing the value of the work Unit 4 employees do every day. ✊

APC Represents at the State Capital
🏛️ Advocating for Working People at the State Capitol
Last week, APC members joined fellow labor advocates in Sacramento to meet with legislative offices and discuss issues impacting California's workers and public higher education.
Advocacy doesn't stop at the bargaining table. It also means showing up, building relationships, and ensuring the voices of our members are heard by those making decisions that affect our workplaces and communities.
Thank you to our Teamsters allies and the legislative teams who took the time to meet with us.

💰 APC’s bonus programs will continue during fiscal year 2025-2026 while bargaining with the CSU remains ongoing.
The Long Term Service Bonus, Educational Achievement Stipend, and Budget Shortfall Mitigation Bonus all remain in place, with eligibility and payment details outlined in the latest update.

⚖️ APC recently assisted a bargaining unit employee who successfully challenged a disciplinary suspension before the State Personnel Board.
After reviewing the evidence and testimony, the suspension was fully revoked and back pay was ordered.
This case is an important reminder that allegations are not facts, employees have representational rights, and disciplinary actions can be challenged through a fair review process.

Across campuses, multiple unions represent employees who support students, operations, and daily campus life.

The CSU could not function without those employees.

APC stands alongside other unions in respecting workers’ rights and advocating for fair treatment across CSU. ✊
