"Just scratchin' my toes!"
Did you know?
Elephants do not sweat through their skin. Their sweat glands are actually found between their toes.
Most mammals sweat through glands connected to their pores but elephants only have pores between their toes.
With all of their skin permeable, they lose far less moisture via evaporation and so are able to cool down faster.
Covering their bodies with mud and dirt also helps keep them cool as well as helps them remove insects.
