Soroptimist is an International Nonprofit volunteer service organization for women who work together to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls. Soroptimist Intern

ational of Citrus Heights (SICH) is just one of the local clubs located in Sacramento County. SICH is a group of dedicated volunteers that are involved in many Service Projects and contributes thousands of dollars each year to the community. LOCAL PROJECTS:

Do you have a special member that made the basket for our Golden 50th
Anniversary ?
- Sierra Nevada Region Raffle Baskets to Fund Federation in our Mission!

Well, here is our’s! JoAnn Jamison made the Treasure Chest Basket with 50 real Gold coins and we celebrate her as a Soroptimist, who not only helped Chair our Boots & BBQ event but has made the basket for the last 2 years for the regional Conference! Who remembers the citrus money tree!
She is a business owner, newer Member of our club and one of our Socialites (each month our club does something fun in the local Sacramento Area to strengthen our bond as a club, often we go support other Soroptimist Clubs at their fundraisers!) Social events help us continue to be inspired to meet our vision for Women & Girls!

You never know who you might meet at a Soroptimist Meeting! This lovely lady told me about the dream pillow she made for her club for our Regional Founders Dream Pillow silent auction.

It was her own educational story!
She went back to school to get a higher education while her children were very young and She graduated!
What an inspiration to meet her!
She Is A Soroptimist”, with the Soroptimist Spirit! Lovingly putting her hand crafted talent to make $ to help Women & Girls get the higher education needed to live their dream lives!

Lastly the Baskets, Soroptimist Clubs are always finding creative ways to make raffles to further our cause to help Women & Girls, each club has such creative ideas and then donate them for the Conferance for raffles so we can fund SNR in our Mission (last half is Sundays Raffles!)

We have amazing past Governor’s in our Soroptimist Region (SNR) We have had a little history of their 2 year experience, what was happening in the world, what challenges they faced and even their theme. This afternoon we heard from Faye Anderson 1992-1994 during a tech dark age of keeping records, and Faye had edited out 50 year booklet, since she couldn’t be here today, past Governor Lane Parks did her presentation and then…
Joan Board 1994-1996 Rising to the challenge, she was at the 75thClub anniversary in Oakland and helped revise the handbook, Susan Horst presented.

Sandra Terrell 1996-1998 Learn from the past,look to the future. She had great memories shared from training retreats for leaders and the 75th Party in Oakland before the 1 region became 3.

Billie Sommerfield 1998-2000 Program in Action with Passion & Vision also was in person and inspired all those impressed to be leaders, to get involved. She remembers that they began communication by email & faxing; making it fun by calling it Hot Flash from Gov Billie.
Each had such great ideas, inspiring us all of our work for women and girls!
