Our Vision (Aspiration):
We envision communities as welcoming and supportive. We believe that all people have a right and responsibility to make choices affecting their lives. We support people’s right to risk as there is potential for learning in each choice we make. We believe all people deserve respectful individualized support so they can reach for and attain their goals. We do not believe that people need to be “fixed”, as they are not broken. We do not believe that people need to “get ready” for work, volunteer, or community engagement. We believe the right to live a life of value, dignity and equal access is a birthright. We believe that each individual’s contribution no matter how large or small is valuable and worthwhile. We believe that to exclude one is to exclude all. We believe businesses and communities profit from inclusion. We believe all people have the right to find valued places to put their talents to use. We believe in the right to earn a living wage. We believe that for individuals to be seen and valued for themselves we must reject the historical practices of grouping people by arbitrary labels. We believe that great communities welcome the opportunity to learn from diversity and value the unique, individual gifts that each member brings.

One of the best parts of inclusive employment is seeing people find their place on a team—and Ian has done that in more than one workplace.

From Funderland to the City of Davis Senior Center to the SPCA Thrift Store, Ian brings his skills, energy, and personality to the teams he works alongside. Each workplace is different, but the goal is the same: contribute, connect with coworkers, and be a valued part of the team. 🤝

Inclusive employment creates opportunities for people to build skills, form relationships, and make a meaningful contribution at work and in their communities.

And Ian is a great example of what’s possible when everyone has a chance to be part of the team. ❤️

When someone has the opportunity to work, the impact goes beyond the workplace.

Ten years ago, Jackie wondered if she’d fit in. She worried her employment would keep her from making friends, joining activities, or finding love.

Today, she’s part of a community pop choir, has a circle of friends, and has found an amazing partner. She says meaningful employment changed how she saw herself and opened the door to a fuller life in her community.

When people have the opportunity to work, they contribute as coworkers, customers, neighbors, friends, and community members.

Employment Changes Everything. 💙

It looks like unique perspectives, creativity, dedication, reliability, problem-solving, and skills that make teams stronger.

People with disabilities bring talent, experience, and meaningful contributions to workplaces and communities every day. When employers recognize the strengths of each individual, everyone benefits.

This , we’re celebrating the value that people with disabilities bring — not just to the workplace, but to the teams and communities around them.
