Our ten scholarship award winners attended a meeting of our club on June 3. Kylie Andreadakis, Addison Bernel, Matthew Choi, Annie Hong, Kelli Olson, Brianna Rorling, and Brooklyn Sanfilippo from Bella Vista; Sneha Gupta, Leah Werner, (Benjamin Lee absent) from Mesa Verde, spoke about the college they will attend and their career aspirations.

Our guest speaker at that meeting was County Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez. Ms Rodriguez represents Sacramento County’s District 4. Its two incorporated cities are Folsom and Citrus Heights. Unincorporated areas are Antelope, Carmichael, Elverta, Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Gold River, North Highlands, Orangevale, Rancho Murieta, and Rio Linda, which are her primary focus. She said that the major problems facing the county are funding deficits, increases in unhoused people…and potholes. She urged our scholarship winners to consider an internship with the county.

Thank you for coming and speaking to our members!

Thank you for coming and speaking to our members!

It was a pleasure to speak with the Kiwanis Club of Citrus Heights this week and share updates on the important work happening throughout Sacramento County.

Organizations like Kiwanis are integral to strong communities. Their commitment to service, volunteerism, and improving the lives of others helps make our neighborhoods better places to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for all you do to serve our region…keep up the great work! 👏

On April 4, Tom Steadman (talking with Kimberly Coley, leader of community engagement for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento), Jim Putnam, and Roger Klausler labored at our club’s third Build Day for the Habitat for Humanity project on Sayonara Drive, working in four homes in phase in phase two. Today’s build was dedicated to applying a barrier film to render the homes “airtight” to minimize heating and cooling costs, and measuring, cutting, and using a very clever PacTool Gecko to help in applying siding composed of a concrete and cellulose fiber mix which prohibits dry rot. Kimberly said that the entire community should be completed by Thanksgiving 2027 and noted that this year is the 40th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento. Families in the first eight Sayonara Drive homes will receive their keys at a June ceremony. These 26 homes will provide safe, stable housing for nearly 120 low-income residents, including families with children.

Our 42nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Rusch Park drew a HUUUGE crowd on a perfect spring day. We extend heartfelt thanks for the success of the event to the moms and dads, pop-pops and nanas, and all the kids who came to enjoy the egg hunt, the tug o’war, the fishing booth, and face-painting…and a big hug to the Easter Bunny. Special thanks to our Bella Vista and Mesa Verde Key Clubs. Without their help to the vendors in set-up and clean-up and running all the activities, this joyous holiday event would not have happened.
Equal thanks to our Golden Egg Sponsor Republic Services; Egg Hunt Stage Sponsor Citrus Heights Water District; Egg Hunt Sponsors Bill Smith Photography, Frosty Sweets and Treats, and Minuteman Press; Community Partners Sunrise Recreation and Parks, Helping Hands Orangevale, Metro Fire, Citrus Heights Police Department, Best Buddies, i9 Sports; Sunrise Christian Food Ministry for providing free pastry and cookies snacks and household items donated by Walmart.

We can’t wait to see you all at our 42nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow at Rusch Community Park!

Special thanks to our Stage Sponsor, Citrus Heights Water District. Every year, we strive to keep this event 100% free for the community and we could not do that without the support of organizations like CHWD.
