Single Mom Strong is a community that exists to empower single mothers and their children in Sacramento and Los Angeles.

Not because single moms can't do it alone. Because they shouldn't have to.

Every day, we see moms showing up for their children, working hard, solving problems, and carrying responsibilities that would challenge anyone.

We also see what happens when:
💜A mentor invests in a child.
💜A childcare teacher creates a safe place to learn.
💜A volunteer gives their time.
💜A friend takes the time to listen.
💜Another mom says, "I've been there too."

✨ Glow Night was a hit. ✨

Teens created custom tote bags and shirts, played games, shared dinner, laughed together, and lit up the room.

More importantly, they connected.

Friendships are forming. Confidence is growing. Teens are finding a space where they can relax, be themselves, and belong.

That's why SMS Teen exists.

Teens are finding their people and want to see this community continue to grow.

We're building something special, and we're just getting started. 💜

Every day, parents make an act of trust.

Single parenting can be lonely.

Not because you're alone, but because carrying so much responsibility can leave little time for friendship, community, and connection.

That's one reason Single Mom Strong exists. 💜

We believe single moms deserve more than resources. They deserve relationships.

Sometimes that connection looks like a deep conversation. Sometimes it looks like laughter over lunch. And sometimes it looks like a walk with women who understand your journey because they're walking a similar one.

Single moms, join us for our next Mom's Day Out: Walk With Your Village.

We'll enjoy the beauty of Miner's Ravine Trail, moving our bodies, connecting with other single moms, and sharing a light lunch afterward.

Healthy relationships impact nearly every part of our lives, yet many people were never taught how to recognize healthy and unhealthy relationship dynamics in practice.

That is exactly why conversations like this matter.

The ways young people learn to communicate, set boundaries, recognize respect, and navigate conflict can shape relationships for years to come.

Join Single Mom Strong, in partnership with WEAVE, Inc., for our upcoming Empowerment Workshop: Healthy Relationships, designed for women and teens ages 12+.

We are especially excited to welcome Maddy (she/her) from WEAVE as our presenter. Maddy leads WEAVE’s community prevention and education efforts throughout Sacramento County, including campus advocacy, community education, and violence prevention initiatives.

She is dedicated to supporting survivors and passionate about prevention work aimed at ending future violence. Maddy also believes in empowering youth with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate relationships safely and confidently, and we are grateful to have her sharing that expertise with our community.

This is Tristan. Then, and now.

Same village. Different chapter.

Tristan's mom has been part of Single Mom Strong for years. He started with us in EmpowerME Summer Camp and has grown into a young man who now participates in both Men's Mentoring and SMS Teen.

He did not age out of this community. He grew deeper into it.

Today, Tristan leads by example. He volunteers, encourages younger children, and shows up for others the same way people showed up for him.

This is what it looks like when a village keeps showing up, not just for the moms, but for their children too.

SMS Teen, presented in partnership with the City of Sacramento and Sactown Youth Nights, exists so more young people have the chance to do exactly this.

Men’s Mentoring is open for the 2026–27 school year. 💛

It starts on the kickball field.

Single Mom Strong’s Men’s Mentoring Kickball Kick-Off is back. This event is a chance for kids and mentors to meet, connect, and begin building relationships.

⚽ Join us at Woodlake Park on Sunday, June 14 from 6:30–7:30 PM.

Our Men's Mentoring Program gives school-aged children of single moms a trusted male role model who chooses to show up for them, month after month, all year long.

Children who participate in at least one Summer Sports Series event — Kickball in June or Fishing in July — will receive priority consideration for Men’s Mentoring participation. Stay tuned for July Fishing event details.

Summer matters for kids.

Not just because school is out, but because children still need connection, creativity, movement, and places where they feel safe to be themselves. 💜

At EmpowerME Summer Camp, kids build friendships, create, explore, play outside, try new things, and make memories that last long after summer ends.

Throughout the summer, community collaborators lead hands-on activities that introduce children to new experiences, skills, and interests they may not otherwise have the opportunity to explore.

And for parents, reliable summer childcare means more than having somewhere for your child to go while you work. It means knowing your child is safe, supported, engaged, and genuinely enjoying their summer.

Sometimes confidence starts with something small.

At our final Men's Mentoring session of the school year, kids built handmade wooden keychains alongside their mentors. When they finished, they held them up, showed each other, and celebrated what they had made.

Those moments matter.

Men's Mentoring is not about the activity. It is about what happens when a child has a trusted adult who shows up consistently — someone who makes space for them to try something new, build a real relationship, and leave feeling capable and proud.

For children growing up in single-parent households, that kind of presence is not small. It is foundational.

We are deeply grateful to the mentors who gave their time this year, and to the families who trusted us with their children. Watching kids grow across a school year — in confidence, in connection, in their belief in themselves — is exactly why this program exists.

We are already looking forward to next year, and we would love to welcome new families.

That’s why Single Mom Strong’s Career Advancement Coaching is personalized to each participant’s unique goals, experience level, and career path.

Every Friday, local executives volunteer their time to provide free 1-on-1 coaching tailored to the individual needs of the moms who register for the program.

Our moms have shared that coaching helped them:
-Build professional and personal confidence
-Clarify career goals and next steps
-Strengthen resumes and interview skills
-Pursue opportunities they previously did not feel confident pursuing
-Feel more hopeful and supported throughout the process
