Happy Friday Pickaway County! It is always a humble gift to whisper good news in a world that seems to shout about the challenging things. Today, I can share the words from the Gospel. Matthew‘s good news, lived out loud in our own little community:
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Today’s shout out and thank you goes to Circleville’s own, the members and volunteers of the VFW, who after all their sacrifices, continue their peacekeeping duties by extending them to the dinner tables of local families. In less than one year‘s time, this organization has provided enough monetary support to keep us in the black despite an increase of over 50 percent in grocery purchases for the pantry last year. With huge donations, in the slowest times for pantry donors, the VFW recently presented us with a second check in less than 12 months. They come for us at just the right moment.
Many are not aware, that the bulk of those beautiful, generous holiday food drives are completely depleted by Super Bowl Sunday. The shelves go bare and the gifts from spring and summer gardens are a long way off. While we always urge that your Super Bowl gatherings include a “soup-er” collection, our area Veterans remembered. With that we remember them, spread their good news, and offer the only thing we can, our humble gratitude and thanks times 20,000.
