The Table Expands Food Access Across Pickaway County, Serving Hundreds of Families Each Month
A growing partnership between The Table, the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (formerly Mid-Ohio Food Bank), and Heritage Church of the Nazarene is helping feed hundreds of families across Pickaway County — and organizers want residents to know this is a separate resource from the county’s Emergency Clearinghouse pantry.
The Table operates as an additional food distribution source, meaning families can receive assistance from both The Table and the Emergency Clearinghouse. Organizers stress that the two programs are not the same — and using one does not disqualify someone from the other.
Currently, The Table serves approximately 280 households across the county. Distribution sites include:
• 120 households in Circleville
• 120 households in Ashville
• Additional outreach through Heritage Nazarene
On Saturday evenings alone, The Table provides roughly 250 prepared meals, ensuring families have immediate access to hot food.
The program makes the application process simple. Residents only need to provide their name, address, and household size — and once registered, they are set. Families may receive assistance twice per month, with distributions held on the second and fourth Thursdays at their new location 520 south Court street the Everts Building. It offers a wheelchair accessable accommodation and an easy pass throufh system that takes only minutes to gatherer foods a s head in your way.
Food offerings focus on practical staples families can regularly use, including breads, eggs, and other essential grocery items like fruits and vegetables.
The Table currently serves residents in Circleville, Ashville, Williamsport, and Derby, with plans to expand into Tarlton by spring. Organizers say the goal is to make distribution points accessible to families throughout the county. Just because you dont live in those areas doesn’t meann you cant go to one and pick up if you are in need.
Community partnerships are playing a key role in the effort. Hope Valley has been described as a “fantastic group to work with,” often bringing eight to ten volunteers to assist with distribution efforts.
In addition to regular distributions, The Table also participates in outreach efforts such as events, helping spread awareness about the program and its availability. Find more information on their page, for this growing collective thats aimed at helping people meet their needs.
Organizers say their biggest challenge right now is simply getting the word out: The Table and the Emergency Clearinghouse are separate programs — and families in need are encouraged to take advantage of both.
