Circleville Firefighters IAFF Local 1232

At approximately 12:40pm today Circleville Firefighters were dispatched to the city’s south side for a structure fire. On arrival CFD crews were met with a shed on fire that had spread to a detached garage, the house on the property, and the neighbors house. The shed was a total loss, the detached garage suffered some smoke and fire damage, the two houses suffered exterior heat damage. Thanks to quick work by our crews the two houses were saved with only exterior damage. No injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Today Local 1232 donated $300 union monies to Pickaway County Special Olympics, According to their representative this will allow them to have professional photos done for their athletes for the first time.

Around 6:30pm 3 unit was dispatched to a structure fire on Ohio Street in the city. On arrival CFD crews were met with heavy fire coming from the the kitchen and the rear of the house. CFD crews deployed a 2 1/2” line to the rear of the house to quickly extinguish the bulk of the fire. CFD crews entered the rear of the house through a first floor bedroom window for search and rescue operations. It’s important to our crews that we start our search and rescue efforts as close to the fire as possible and work away from the fire (that is where potential victims are in the most immediate danger). While searching CFD crews located and saved the family cat.

Calling 911 accidentally is not a crime unless you are a habitual offender. Don’t hang up explain the situation. Hanging up will only tie up resources that may be needed for an actual emergency somewhere else.
