The Pickaway County Sportsmen club’s annual Youth Day event has been held on club grounds since 1997. On Saturday, June 6th, more than 100 local youths and their families attended this fun and free event in continuation of this tradition.

The goal of this event is to introduce kids of all ages to the great outdoors using hands-on activities and displays to encourage their involvement in outdoor adventures. The mission of the Pickaway County Sportsmen, a non-profit organization, is to promote and encourage safe, enjoyable, educational outdoor activities for all of its members, and the community. We also aim to support individuals and organizations in their efforts to conserve our natural resources for future generations.

PCSI would like to offer special thanks to the following for their generosity, support, and taking time out of their busy schedules for this year’s event:
• OhioHealth Berger Hospital - for your generous donation of water bottles, we were able to keep everyone hydrated for the day as they ran from station to station.
• Dynahoe Equipment & Tool Rental - for use of their bounce houses. We had so much fun!
• ****msandrange LEPD On Target Radio Show & Roundtown Radio - for getting the word out about the event.
• Circleville Police Department - for hanging out with us for the day. It was great to get to chat with you, see some police gear, patrol cars, the MRAP tactical vehicle, and the K-9 pup!
• The Circleville Fire Department - for the new information you brought to the day. It was awesome having the fire truck and firemen interacting with the kids this year.
• Ohio Department of Natural Resources - for bringing a wealth of knowledge. It was great to have your wildlife officer, the variety of brochures, and your display of native furs to Ohio that the kids could interact with.
• Boy Scout Troop 170 - for the monkey bridge. The kids loved climbing and “monkeying” around!
• Paul's Cool Scales & Reptile Adventures - for the added excitement of being able to visit with all of you and your reptile friends. The tortoise roaming around like it owned the place was awesome!
• Pickaway County Park District - PCPD, Ohio Christian University, Pickaway Diablos, & Deer Creek Chapter of Pheasants Forever #545- Thank you, thank you all for the vast amount of knowledge you supplied through your displays and activities that the youth were able to stop by and visit. We learned so much from all of you!

This day would not have been a success without each and every one of you! To the 60 club members, who helped prep beforehand and worked the day of, you are amazing! I am so proud of the work you all have done and to be able to say I am a member of the PCSI family. I hope you are too. And a big thanks to all of the local families that attended! We hope you had as awesome of a day as we all did.

If anyone has any additional pictures they took, please share them with us or tag Pickaway County Sportsmen, Inc. We would love to see them!

Urgent notice regarding range 7:

Out of an abundance of caution the PCSI Board of Directors has made the tough decision to restrict shooting on range 7. Effective immediately the only fi****ms allowed for use on range 7 are International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA) approved fi****ms firing at IHMSA approved targets, and shotguns firing at sporting clay targets. This decision is a result of a safety concern brought to the board’s attention at the May 7, 2026, board meeting. The board was informed range 7 has a significant incline in elevation from the firing line to the backstop and allowing rifle and handgun shooting towards the furthest backstop area could potentially result in rounds crossing over the backstop. The board was previously unaware of this situation. Obviously, rounds leaving the range is a serious safety concern.

The board has already discussed what is needed to rectify this situation and plans to reopen range 7 to all shooting once alterations and repairs are made. We will keep members updated as progress continues.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact any board member using the contact lists found around club grounds and on our website, www.pcsirange.org.

Sincerely,

The PCSI Board of Directors
