Work continues on phase one of the mountain rebuild! Looks like we will be keeping some of the “bones” of the mountain division will be kept. We will reuse some of the original bench work since it is still pretty solid. Fun fact, in demolition, we found a receipt for the wood from 1987!

The demolition of the mountain division continues! Last week we took the next big step of removing much of the plaster scenery, exposing the supports showing how this section of the layout was constructed 40 years ago. Some areas of the layout are being saved to be reused, like our coal dump. While other parts will be completely changed. The plan currently to build a temporary bypass of the demolished area so we can have trains running while construction continues!

Some of you have wondered what do we do for 3/4 of the year when we don’t have open houses, well this for one! This gives us the time we need to work on the layout, and we have a big project for this year, redesigning and rebuilding the oldest part of the layout, our “Mountain Division!” Demolition has already begun so follow us here to see our progress as we demolish and rebuild this part of the train layout!

Our 2025-2026 winter open house season has come to an end. From every one of us at the club, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to see our layout and support the club over the last few months. Our model railroad will be open to the public again next winter. Stay tuned to social media for when we announce the open house dates. We hope to see you all then!

It’s our last weekend of our model railroad open house dates! Stop by Saturday 2/21 and Sunday 2/22 from Noon to 5 pm to see our HO scale trains traverse our 1800 square foot model railroad layout. It’s free of charge, although we do accept donations. Bring a step stool for any little ones so they can see the layout easily. Hope to see you there.

It’s our last weekend open until next winter! Stop by the club either Saturday or Sunday from noon to 5pm to see multiple HO scale trains traversing our 700 foot mainline free of charge. Make sure to bring a step stool for the little ones.
