This weekend, John’s friends and family (along with current Rider University students and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity brothers) came together to share stories, laugh, and remember the impact he made on all of us.

Seeing people who knew and loved John stand alongside students who are carrying his legacy forward was incredibly meaningful. It’s a reminder that his influence didn’t end with us. It continues through scholarship recipients, the Rider community, and everyone who keeps his memory alive in big and small ways.

We’re grateful for every person who showed up, told a story, or simply held space for John. His legacy lives on because of you.

Twenty years.

It’s hard to grasp that much time without John, but what brings steadiness is knowing that his life continues to ripple outward in real ways.

Each year, our foundation chooses organizations whose work reflects the values John lived with — curiosity, compassion, and a quiet belief in helping others find their way.

In 2025, that meant supporting:

- The Actuarial Foundation
- Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation – Child Life Celebration (Voorhees, NJ)
- Rider University – Actuarial Scholarship & General Fund
- Food Bank of South Jersey
- Cooper Medical School of Rowan University
- Make-A-Wish New Jersey
- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
- Shriners Children's
- HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy
- Deborah Heart and Lung Center Foundation
- ALS Association
- Samaritan's Purse
- Breakthrough T1D
- Delran High School Special Fund
- Delran Middle School 8th Grade Awards
- The Catholic Diocese of Trenton
- St. Vincent de Paul-Resurrection Parish, Delran, NJ

Twenty years later, John’s legacy isn’t something we revisit once a year on November 18. It’s something we actively shape every day.

And we’re grateful that these organizations help us keep his spirit moving forward with purpose.

Next month marks 20 years of the John E. Kostic Memorial Foundation — two decades of carrying John’s light forward through acts of compassion, opportunity, and community.

As we prepare to celebrate this milestone, we want to hear from you.

If John touched your life personally, or if the Foundation’s work has made an impact in your community, we invite you to share your story.

Please email your reflections to [email protected] by November 5. With your permission, we’ll share select stories publicly as part of our 20-year commemoration.

Thank you for helping us honor John’s legacy — one story, one act of kindness, one ripple of impact at a time.

Hope everyone is gearing up for the return to school!

Hope everyone is gearing up for the return to school!

Shout out to the students who are less than thrilled to be going - just like JFK, who wrote going into his senior year of high school: "School begins - Oh God."

Thank you to our patients and our community for your understanding during this challenging time. As we are experiencing a tremendous spike in COVID-19 testing requests, we wanted to share that the New Jersey Department of Health and Vault Health have partnered to provide free COVID-19 testing kits to NJ residents. In addition to traditional COVID-19 testing at sites throughout the state, ordering a home test may be more convenient for people who have trouble leaving the house to get tested.

To order a kit, any NJ resident can use this link: https://fal.cn/3kXng. The registration process takes less than five minutes. No health insurance is required. The only necessary information is your COVID vaccine status, your name, and address. The saliva test must be sent through UPS to a lab for results that take approximately 48 hours.

Additional information regarding testing at Cooper can be found at CooperHealth.org/COVID19Testing.

As we mark the 15th anniversary of John’s passing, the JEKMF continues John’s legacy. During the pandemic, the Foundation made monetary contributions to the South Jersey Food Bank, the Cooper Foundation, the Deborah Heart Foundation, Trinity Health and Moorestown Visiting Nurses Association. Annually the Foundation provides scholarships at Rider University, Delran High School and to seniors with juvenile diabetes graduating from high school and who will be attending a 4 year college or university.

Please help the Cooper University Health Care professionals working on the front line and caring for COVID-19 patients. As the outbreak continues to spread in New Jersey, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is in high demand and needed to protect those providing care.
