‼️ BREAKING: Ohio House passes Success Sequence bill 58-36 to teach students the path out of poverty:

1. Graduate high school
2. Get a full-time job in your 20s
3. Be married before having kids

🤯 The data shows 97% of young adults who follow the sequence avoid living in poverty.

CCV Policy Executive Director David Mahan shared:

“Today's vote is a win for Ohio students and families. We are especially grateful to Senator Al Cutrona for his leadership on this legislation, along with Chairwoman Sarah Fowler-Arthur, Chairman Andrew Brenner, Speaker Matt Huffman, and Senate President Rob McColley for helping make Ohio a national leader in preparing students for lifelong success.”

Because the Senate already passed the bill, the changes the House made must go back to the Senate for a concurrence vote. Then SB276 will be sent to Gov. DeWine. He will have 10 days to sign the bill into law, veto it, or let it become law without his signature.

Pennsylvania ranks 34th in the nation for family strength with only 53.4 percent of their prime-age adults married, just 61.9 percent of teens raised in intact homes, and a fertility rate that sits at 1.55, well below replacement level.

Michael Geer of the PA Family Institute and Kurt Weaver of the PA Church Ambassador Network joined the Morning Light Panel to unpack what this means, and what the Church can do about it.

The solution doesn't start in Washington. It starts locally.

Why do some states have more babies than others?

A major factor shows up in the data: religious participation.

Frequent church attendance alone explains about 57% of the difference in state fertility rates. States like Utah and Mississippi, with higher attendance, also tend to have higher birth rates. States like Vermont sit on the other end of both measures.

It’s one of the clearest correlations in the data.

The would protect Ohio consumers by prohibiting the use of credit cards to place bets. Ohioans will only be able to gamble with funds they possess, helping to reduce gambling-related debts. The majority of Americans agree with our “No Debt to Bet” provision.

The Ohio Senate is considering two opposing bills that will decide who controls your child’s digital life. You need to act immediately to protect Ohio minors.

Only Senator Reynolds' bill is supported by Center for Christian Virtue, The Heritage Foundation, and more than 100 other child advocacy groups.

SEN. REYNOLDS' APP STORE ACCOUNTABILITY ACT (SB167)

✅ Accurate Information: Apps are accurately age-rated for parental transparency

✅ Age Verification: Requires privacy-preserving age verification, so children are not treated like adults.

✅ Parental Consent: Recognizes that children cannot enter into binding contracts without parental consent.

✅ Enforcement: Includes real enforcement mechanisms and finally holds app stores accountable.

✅ Sen. Reynolds' App Store Accountability Act is led by Child Advocates: Supported by 170+ child advocacy groups, including Center for Christian Virtue, The Heritage Foundation, National Center on Sexual Exploitation, Protect Young Eyes Institute for Family Studies, Defend Young Minds, Scrolling2Death, Parents Who Fight, Institute for Families and Technology, Child First Policy Center, American Principles Project, Digital Progress Institute, Utah Parents United, and Project STAND.

GOOGLE'S CALIFORNIA-MODELED BILL (SB175)

❌ Accurate Information: Apps are NOT required to have accurate age ratings for parental transparency

❌ Stated Age: Relies on stated age for most apps. Statistically, 30% of children lie about their age online.

❌ Parental Consent: Allows children to enter into binding contracts without parental consent.

❌ Enforcement: Creates legal shields that let app stores and operating systems escape accountability and liability.

❌ Google's California-modeled SB175 (sponsored by Sen. Patton) is led by Big Tech and their Trade Associations.

Ohioans have wagered more than $26 billion since 2023. That is real money leaving real families across our state, money that could have stayed at kitchen tables instead of sportsbooks.

We cannot sit by while gambling interests win at the expense of Ohio families losing everything. It is time to protect our neighbors, our children, and the integrity of athletic competition.
