The rain held off long enough for another beautiful shared Memorial Day Bell 🔔 ceremony between Anderson Township, Ohio - Government Trustees and American Legion - Anderson Post 318.

On March 8, 2026, Honor Flight Tri-State will host a Flightless Honor Flight in Anderson Township.

While we market this event as for those who are unable due to medical reasons, the cold hard truth is many of our veterans who returned from Korea and Vietnam haven’t stepped foot on an airliner since – this event is for them as well.

This information is time sensitive, so please immediately share it as appropriate.

The Flightless Honor Flight is a heartfelt tribute for veterans who are unable to travel to Washington, D.C. due to health or mobility challenges. Offered by Honor Flight Tri-State, this unique program brings the Honor Flight experience to veterans right here at home.

🎖 Who Is Eligible?

This program is open to:
• Veterans age 65 and older
• Those who served stateside or overseas, during wartime or peacetime
• Veterans unable to participate in the traditional Honor Flight due to medical or logistical reasons

Note: Veterans who have previously been on an Honor Flight may return as guardians for others, however not as veterans. It is important to note that veterans who participate in the flightless event may not be eligible to participate in an actual flight to Washington DC.

✈️ What to Expect

Veterans and one guardian will attend a special event designed to mirror an actual Honor Flight day. The experience includes:
• Honor Flight Welcome Ceremony
• Color Guard & Bagpipers
• Mail Call – personalized letters just like those sent during service
• A virtual tour of national memorials
• Souvenirs & light refreshments
• A moving "Welcome Home" Celebration – the one many never received

The event lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place at a designated indoor location.

👥 Don’t have a guardian? We’ll assign someone from our Flightless Team to accompany you.

📋 How to Apply

Veterans must complete a Flightless Honor Flight application attached to this email to participate.
Spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis depending on venue size.
📞 Or call Carole Quackenbush at 513-518-0377
