What's the secret ingredient to leadership that truly makes a difference? It's putting people first.

In our May professional development webinar, Pamela Gilchrist, MA, APR, CPT, explores how servant leadership transforms the way we communicate—moving us from self-promotion to amplifying others' voices, from talking at audiences to listening deeply and building genuine understanding.

For religion communicators, this approach isn't just good leadership—it's essential to how we shape messages that honor dignity, bridge divides, and inspire hope.

Much like Chick-fil-A's renowned focus on leadership with a purpose, servant leadership reminds us that our communication should reflect service-centered values. When we lead as servants, our words and strategies become tools for connection, not just promotion.

Servant Leadership
Pamela Gilchrist, MA, APR, CPT
Thursday, May 28 at 2 p.m. ET webinar

For religion communicators, servant leadership is closely tied to how we tell stories and shape messages. When we lead as servants, our communication becomes less about promoting ourselves or our organizations and more about amplifying the voices of others, listening deeply, and building understanding across differences. We choose words, images, and strategies that honor the dignity of our audiences and help them see their own role in the wider work of healing and hope in the world.

Join us this afternoon - Thurs., May 28 at 2 p.m. ET - for a presentation by Pamela Gilchrist which will help members explore practical ways to integrate these principles into their everyday communication—whether you manage media relations, create digital content, craft public messages, or lead internal teams—so that your leadership and your messages alike reflect a people-first, service-centered approach.

Did you see the recent findings by Pew Research Center? In their May 14 article, How Americans Feel About Religion’s Influence in Government and Public Life, they state that "a growing minority of U.S. adults say religion is gaining influence in American life. And more than half say religion plays a positive role in society."

According to the survey, "Religion is gaining influence has risen 19 percentage points in the last two years and is now as high as it has been in Center surveys going back to 2002."

More insights:

A growing share of U.S. adults say religion is gaining influence, but most still want churches to stay out of politics, a 2026 survey finds.

How do we lead with integrity when our days are full of deadlines, crises, and competing priorities?

Join us May 28 at 2 p.m. ET for a practical professional development webinar on servant leadership, designed specifically for communicators serving faith-based and values-driven communities. Together we will explore how to lead from wherever we are—whether or not we have a formal title—by serving our teams, honoring our missions, and communicating with humility and courage.

Invite a colleague who leads by serving—and encourage them to join you.

Got questions about video? So do the rest of us.

Video is often the first way people encounter our stories online — it can stop the scroll, build trust, and put a human face to our ministries and organizations. When we get video right, it doesn’t just inform; it connects, inspires, and invites people to take a next step.

Join us for an informal conversation Thursday, May 21 at 1 p.m. ET, on how we’re using video in our communications — what’s helping us reach people, what’s falling flat, and what we’re still trying to figure out. We’ll swap best practices, share simple tools and tricks, and learn from each other’s real-world experiences.

Whether you’re just getting started with video or you’ve been experimenting for a while, your voice will make this richer for everyone — and might give someone else the idea they need for their next great piece of content.

Let’s learn together how to tell our stories on screen in ways that help our messages really land.

Another Way to Interact While RCC members have a great opportunity each month to learn during our professional development webinars, sometimes a more casual conversation might be what’s needed. There are many topics that lean toward more sharing info and best practices instead of the presentation-...
