This weekend, it begins. 🎻
Cincinnati String Project opens its 2026–27 season with Death and the Maiden, one of the most powerful works in the string quartet repertoire.

Written as Schubert confronted his own mortality, Death and the Maiden moves through turmoil, defiance, beauty and acceptance. This weekend, experience it live with the CSP Quartet.

Nearly two centuries later, it still stops us in our tracks.
Schubert’s Death and the Maiden is one of the defining works of the string quartet repertoire: urgent, intimate, defiant and achingly beautiful.

This weekend, the Cincinnati String Project Quartet brings it to three communities across Cincinnati, alongside music by the Danish String Quartet.

October 2–4. Three performances. One extraordinary piece of music.

Each performance is followed by a catered reception, and every ticket helps support Cincinnati String Project’s free education program.

There’s a point in rehearsal when the notes on the page begin to become something else.
A glimpse inside the rehearsal room as the CSP Quartet prepares Schubert’s Death and the Maiden for the opening of our 2026–27 season.

Written nearly two centuries ago, this music still feels immediate: restless, intimate, defiant and deeply human.

Next weekend, we bring it to three Cincinnati communities.

October 2 | 7 PM | Clifton
October 3 | 5 PM | Pleasant Ridge
October 4 | 5 PM | Kenwood

A ticket to a Cincinnati String Project concert does more than put you in the audience.
It helps put an instrument in a student’s hands.

When you join us for Death and the Maiden October 2–4, your ticket directly supports Cincinnati String Project’s free music education program. That means more students have the opportunity to learn, play together, build confidence and experience what it feels like to make music as part of a community.

That connection is at the heart of Cincinnati String Project. The music you hear on stage helps make the music happening in our classrooms possible.
